What an accomplishment,no matter where you view the bridge from it is beautiful. There was snow falling when we arrived which was lovely but I’m sure it’s equally picturesque on a sunny day. We travelled a long way to see it but we weren’t disappointed.

A great place to wander around. There are also a good number of country walks on excellent paths in the surrounding area. You can make the walks as gentle or as strenuous as you like. No entry charge as such - though there is a car parking charge payable on exit.

Spread throughout the Millau region are 5 Templar villages that embody the Knights Templar. These crusaders were known for their bravery, their financial acumen, and their health care services. This village is not as spectacular as say "La Couvertoirade" but still paints a picture of life in the 12th century. Mostly disbanded and then persecuted by the RC Church after the Crusades this organization faded away. You will find some of their customs and habits in Freemasonry. Village has nice central court area with water Fountain.

Three stars in the Green Michelin, THE guidebook we've used for decades, usually so dependable. But we've gotta say: this time, they're way off. Basically, Montpellier-le-Vieux is a nice area of natural beauty, privately owned and fenced off, with several trails of varying levels of difficulty. We live in the Pyrenees-Orientales, and we can do basically everything you can do here, but for free, and with far grander scenery. OK, there's a couple of natural arches, and something of a wide view. But it's monochromatic and not very interesting. It was OK to get out of the car and walk around the woods and scrub for three hours. That's about it. The "train" ride for folks who can't or don't want to get around on their own is a joke, with a totally kitsch, uninformative narration. You can do far better than this on the GR and PR trails in the area, atop or at the foot of the various beautiful gorges in the area.

A rather old fashioned museum and all the better for it! Archeology, geology and of course the pottery made at Graufesenque. Found all over the Roman world, as far away as the Orkneys in the north and Turkey in the east
A special section on the local manufacture of leather gloves proves remarkably interesting.

It's worth the climb all the way to the top, all 220 steps of it. The view from the balcony, about half way up is a great way to see the layout of the old town. DO go up to the very top as the views to the Viaduct are stunning as well as to the Gorges the opposite way.
