This palace it is one with a long and dramatic history. The palace is the opera of the Italian architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, so famous for his works in Russia. The palace suffered serious damages among the 20th century and finally it was restored until 1992. The palace is surrounded by beautiful Gardens. His destination belong now to the visitors and if you come in Latvia you must see it!

Absolutely recommended place to visit especially if you are with children - they gonna love it! Real fairytale stories realized in wooden figures.
Lots of walking through the real forest, climbing on and around various figures all the time, visiting children "City" that will make any child happy and tired from physical activities.
Really nice cafe there - authentic Latvian meals there. Nice prices. Really tasty.
Spending whole day in relaxed atmosphere.

We went in early May, when the Gardens were just about awakening from their winter slumber. So can't really comment on them. Well worth looking at later in the year. The house is a grand affair, steeped in history and all the old furniture still in situ. A guide can be had but we never bothered. its really all explained in the leaflets to be found in each of the beautiful rooms. There is a lovely little cafe in the basement, and although the ground floor was not open for our visit, the first floor made up for it.

This palace has a long history and several owners, including occupation forces in the 20th century. From being a grain store to a extremely well renovated palace appearing in the BBC's recent film of War and Peace. Such attention to detail makes this palace a worthwhile visit.

That was really interesting overview of the whole city... the top floor has an glass roof so you are able to see the whole Jelgava 360 degrees... while going to the top 9th floor you have an interesting exibitions and the pretty expensive restaurant at floro 8th... but there is a available a ticket for the 9th floor only so you can see this beautifull city! Try this for sure!!!

It was a wintertime when I first visited Panevezys and I was completely astonished how peaceful and beautiful the place felt - besides it was completely covered with snow! Large river spreading around and little wooden Bridges add on charisma to the place which is so naturally beautiful. Stunning.

I live 153 km far from this castle and finally i decided to look around. The building itself is old and interesting but not spectacular.Beautiful flowers everywhere in the outside garden. Not so many rooms to visit and not so interesting furniture in the rooms. The museum offer many things to see for somebody interested in history and culture. The entrance fee is 1 euro / person and additional 1,50 euro for who want to take pictures. I felt a good smell coming from the restaurant inside but I didn't ate there. The castle and the museum can be visited in 30-40 minutes.Outside they had some archery contest for the kids.

"Alaus Kelias" has been advertised widely, and have loved the Rinkuskiai beer for some time. The location is bitterly disappointing, and could be nearly anywhere. There are no specialty beers to purchase just at the brewery.. and wouldnt recommend it like I would visiting the Butautu Dvaras brewery

Partially destroyed by Soviet artillery in World War II and renovated, extensively, in the C21st and re-opened as a hotel.
The interiors are bright (polished) but have an almost insubstantial film-set quality.
The Gardens are laid out to the design of an English Park - long views of woods, trees, glades and water.
We did not use the hotel's facilities other than to have lunch in the restaurant - rather good and reasonably priced!
Main claim to international fame is that the Palace was the birth-place of (Anna Charlotte) Dorothea von Medem. She married Peter von Biron, the last Duke of Courland.
