Wuhan (simplified Chinese: 武汉; traditional Chinese: 武漢; pinyin: Wǔhàn; [ù.xân] ( listen)) is the capital of Hubei province, People's Republic of China, and is the most populous city in Central China. It lies in the eastern Jianghan Plain on the middle reaches of the Yangtze River at the intersection of the Yangtze and Han rivers. Arising out of the conglomeration of three cities, Wuchang, Hankou, and Hanyang, Wuhan is known as 'China's Thoroughfare' (zh); it is a major transportation hub, with dozens of railways, roads and expressways passing through the city and connecting to other major cities. Because of its key role in domestic transportation, Wuhan is sometimes referred to as "the Chicago of China" by foreign sources.

This museum contains more than 140,000 artifacts, mainly excavated from a large tomb more than 2,400 years old.
You can cover the museum in about an hour and is well worth the visit especially the open ancient tomb with a body so well preserved the skin and internal organs are all still there. The gift shop has many interesting things for sale.

The key to visiting Wuhan in general is the time of the year. The main Wuhan University campus is most famous for cherry blossoms in the spring. The old buildings that make up the central area of the campus are really beautiful and they make quite a picture when the blossoms are out. The only issue is that it isn't a very well kept secret so you can expect to have other people in the background of your photos more often than not. The campus in general is really beautiful and there are some great cafes that are dotted along some of the main campus bus routes so that you can stop off and take in the sights. As the campus borders Dong Hu (East Lake) you can exit the campus and take a really nice stroll along the lake. Recently they have improved the walkways around the lake so that they are safe and relaxing.

When I was there, it was drizzling with the first autumn rain. I was told it was 5 times as large as Hangzhou West Lake. It consists of several scenic area like, Luoyan, Moshan, Wuhan Botanical Garden. The rain and limited time did not do justice to this excellent park. Wuhan University, founded in 1893 is at a corner of the lake. Rent a bicycle to get around the lake.

This is the main temple in Wuhan that had over half a million visitor during Chinese New Year day. There is a big plaza with a giant Guan Yin statue but even more impressive is the 108 Arhat inside the temple that's suppose to tell your fortune for the year

This is without a doubt one of the very best shows of its type I have ever seen. The effects – visual, auditory and water are extraordinary, and compliment the fantastic acrobatics. The theater is huge yet some how the show fills it. I suggest sitting up a bit from the stage to better see and experience all that is happening simultaneously. The cast really is impressive. I would certainly go back.

There are now something like nine Bridges spanning the wide stretch of the Yangtze at Wuhan but this was the first when it opened in 1957. Originally started with Russian assistance but finished by Chinese engineers this bridge is still an impressive structure some sixty years later.
We viewed it initially from another bridge but was then able to see it up close when our river boat went underneath it, and it is from here that you can see the full impressiveness of the multilayered construction with the train tracks running underneath the road section with its trolley bus wires.

This area is large (many acres!) with paths, roads, aerial tramway, temples/pagodas, small scenic bus, interesting garden areas, children's attractions, statues, Bridges, bonsai Gardens, musical show in the Chulian Temple, snack shops, and even a lotus plant research center. Moshan Hill dominates with extensive views of the polluted air over the city spewing from industrial plants and massive high-rise building complexes. Water, water everywhere with East Lake all around (the largest city lake in China). Each season has its blooming splendor in plants/trees. Photographers and Chinese families in mass swarm to this site on weekends--be prepared! But, it is well-kept, organized, and bathrooms are clean!

The lake is worth a visit if you are in Wuhan, but not a destination in itself. It's quite large and there are scenic areas. Overall a nice place for a stroll.

An amazing place...i love to go here by myself. Clothes, food, electronics, toys, everything is available here. A cup of Starbucks frappuccino is all that you need for companionship here...at least for me;) Hey it's a good place for all those lovers out there too!!!
