Some people offer an excursion that includes the blue caves and then the navaggio beach. Be carefull, because the small motor boats can sail to the blue caves which are nearer but if the sea condictions are not good, the navaggio sail is cancelled. The blue caves are a must.

Navagio Beach (Shipwreck Beach)

We'd seen the advertising, and the posters, there was even a write-up about the place on the flight magazine... But nothing can prepare you for the first glimpse of the cove from atop of the cliff!
Truly awe-inspiring views down into the little shipwreck on the smallest cove of whitest sand, but what stood out is the incandescent glow that comes from the brightest aquamarine and turquoise water an eye could ever witness.
I didn't think there was any colour so vibrant in all of nature.
A truly magical experience.

Xigia Beach

A beautiful stretch of gold sand beach and deep blue water.

Reviewed By holidaymanWashington - Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom

We viewed the beach from the cafe at the top and from there it is very pretty but quite small and has the common sharp, gritty sand. There are sunbeds and umbrellas but I would suggest that rather than going to spend the day there, that most people go to have a therapeutic dip, in the sulphur and colagen enriched water. The sea is a really stunning blue and looks really inviting for a swim. The downside is lots of steep stairs and slopes to get there and of course, you have to get back up.
You might in your mind look at least 10 years younger, as the locals say but after climbing back up, you'll feel 10 years older. All the facilities are at the cafe at the top. There aren't any at the beach, so if you plan to spend any time there, take all you need with you. Not recommended for anyone who is unfit or has any infirmity.

Great location, affordable accommodatio all around, not hustle and bustle or gimmicky and not overly touristy. It is a destination for the tourist who wants do their own thing and doesn't mind settling into a holiday routine of some time by the beach and then casual time exploring Zakynthos from the eastern side of the island. All landmarks are 20-30 minute accessible, and, along the way some out of the way places and finds that you didn't expect. There are great food restaurants serving very local food which is affordable, of which To Petrino 50m from the beach is a must try! Generous portions using very fresh local ingredients some of which they produce themselves, a very local family run business who really care for their guests.
We are a family of three and ventured here from Australia with our 17mth old son and found this leave is a pleasure and an ease.

Amazing bay with beautiful water and caves. We rented pedal boat and explored near by caves on our own and it was much better then organised trip to Blue Caves. Noone else was there, nobody rushing us. We saw amazing fishes during snorkling and birds on the rocks. Beach itself is very small and rocky and there's only one food truck with terrible coffees. Access for scooters is difficult as on the way back you have to climb very steep road but it's doable.

Potamitis Brothers

We organize Cruises to the Blue Caves and the Shipwreck in our 4 new glass bottom boats, the smallest is for 20 passengers and the largest can accommodate 50 people. Our boats leave from the most beautiful point to the Shipwreck and explore the unique sea caves along the coast. Your captain provides light commentary as you pass landmarks but the spectacular scenery speaks for itself. We planned out special events for our customers: • Daily Cruises to the Shipwreck and the Blue Caves with Sea Cave spotting and exploring. • Special Twilight Cruises to the Shipwreck area • Special Full Moon Cruises to the Shipwreck area • Vip Private Cruises We are a Traditional Nautical Greek Family that lives by the sea and adores the sea. We wish to share this love for the sea with all our visitors. People who live by the sea understand eternity. They copy the curves of the waves, their hearts beat with the tides, & the saltiness of their blood corresponds with the sea. "People Who Live" by Erica Jong

We used Potamitis Brothers to visit the Blue Caves and Shipwreck Bay. They sail from the most northerly point of Zante [near the lighthouse] and charge 15e each which is very reasonable. They use two boats, one is a small F/glass and wood vessel which can excess the caves that bigger boats cannot get inside. The second boat [which you transfer onto for the sail to the shipwreck] is a converted fishing vessel which carries around 20/25 people. It's a bit of a "wolf in sheep's clothing" because its fitted with 2 x 500hp inboard engines and appeared to be the fastest boat on the Shipwreck Bay run.
Its a fast 20 min journey [each way] to the wreck and I loved it!
My wife and I are long in years [but not in spirit!] and I would caution anyone who is not reasonably fit from making this journey. The steps down to the boats at the lighthouse are very steep and can be hard on old knees! At Shipwreck Bay the exit from the boat is by ladder into water but the crew were very good with us old folks.
I would go again...so I guess that says a lot, just make sure you use Potamitis Bros>

We booked this excursion through Get Your Guide. Only cost £18:75pp for 3-4 hours and it was well worth it. We booked the 11:30am trip and arrived about half hour before. The port itself was a beautiful location. There's a small cafe there to buy drinks & snacks. As it was end of season we were told timings weren't exact and that our boat would leave about 11:45 but that was fine. It's about half an hour to Shipwreck Beach. The boat Beaches and has a ladder to climb down to get to the beach. It was very busy but I'd imagine it would be even busier in the height of season. The beach comprises of small white pebbles and is quite difficult to walk on when in the water as you sink! We found a spot to put our stuff and headed into the sea. It gets deep very quickly. Once in it's lovely, no good for snorkelling though as it's too cloudy from all the movement from people in the sea. There was a lot of boats coming and going so I didn't stay in the sea for long. There were ladies selling baguettes, cold drinks and fruit. The baguettes were lovely €3 each and well worth it. We stayed ashore for 1 hour and on the way back we stopped off into several caves and then to the blue caves where we dropped anchor so people could jump into the sea from the boat. There was no commentary which would've been a nice addition but still worth the trip
