Very hot & humid town!!!! Very clean, very friendly people. Beautiful old buildings, visit the hotels and restaurants to view beautiful hand carved furniture dating back 200 years. A lot of the same, can get repetitive.

It is a bit concerning to get here and cross the bridge on car, very narrow and very congested. Walking the bridge on the other side is amazing, thrilling. The mighty Cauca right under, this river is so wide is unreal. The trip over is totally worthy to enjoy the scenic views, you must walk the bridge to get the full effect. The atmosphere on both sides is kind of carnivalesque. Supposedly the bridge is very solid, it better be with the heavy traffic it takes.

Worth the short walk from the main plaza. The church is very pretty from the outside, and just as appealing when you get inside. Spend 30 minutes here for a nice historic treat.

Loved the experience with my kids. All sizes of water pool-like attractions. Not fancy stuff like roller coasters or big long water slides but enough to entertain young kids and have fun

We went in a large group so the camaradity (plus beer and aguardiente) helped make it a day to remember. The horses were all well behaved which was necessary given the differing levels of equestrian skills in the group. Even the novice riders had a great time and want to repeat the exercise which says everything.

Puente de Occidente

Reviewed By zug55 - Austin, Texas

The Puente de Occidente is a suspension bridge across the Cauca River near the town of Santa Fe de Antioquia. The setting is quite scenic. The bridge has a single suspension span supported by four pyramidal towers, two on each bank of the river. It has a total length of 291 meters (955 ft). It was designed by the Colombian engineer José María Villa (1850-1913) and constructed 1887-1895.
The bridge is located about three miles outside of town. Hire a mototaxi in town; it takes about 8-10 minutes to get to the bridge. We managed to squeeze three people into the back of the mototaxi. The driver will wait for you until you are done seeing the bridge and will drive you back into town. I recommend crossing the bridge on foot, but the mototaxi will drive you across it you prefer. This side trip is definitely worth it!

Museum well worth visiting. The building is preserved in its original condition and is around 300 years old. The displays are extremely good, the employees friendly, and best of all its free to enter (We recommend leaving a donation to help with the upkeep).

Over all I was disappointed on the trip to Santa Fe de Antioquia. I could only photograph the exterior of this church. I took a few photos of the town. Half of the hotels had their gates closed and the two I visited had no a/c or hot water. I ended up driving back to Medellin the same day. Only the tunnel had some interest.

We entered the museum with some doubts and were pleasantly surprised by the rich and various collections of the first floor .
Sure the notices about the art works are rather short and the lights should be improved .
But the works, both paintings and statues , are really interesting and cover quite a long historical period ; a good surprise in such a small town .
Additionally the place has large walls which maintain the ambiance fresh despite the outside hot temperature .
