Can see all of in it under 2 hours, or spend the day at the many pools & fun activities like mini-golf. This place is probably packed on nice weekend. My favorite was the Bird enclosure, which is full of friendly, photographic parrots. May is wrong time for most butterflies (January is best) but the butterfly enclosure & hatchery are both interesting. Pricey at 140 Bolivianos (about $20 US) for admission.

We have visited three of the main five churches on the Jesuit trail, (Concepcion, San Ignacio and San Javier). Although these churches are central to the communities they serve (typically on one side of the Plaza Principal) they seem to rarely be open during the day. If you wish to see inside the churches (an it is well worth it) then it is better to stay in the Pueblo for the night. There are generally reasonable hotels in all of the Jesuit Trail Pueblos but do be careful if you are travelling during a festival time (for example Concepcion holds an Orchid Festival in October and there are also Baroque Music Festivals throughout the year).

Plaza 24 de Septiembre is a very nice square with lots of trees and benches. It is filled with lots of locals: families, couples, friends. It's a good spot to people watch. As any public location, beware of your belongings and surroundings. The church dominates the plaza and it's beautiful. Restaurants and shops are nearby to enjoy before or after spending time here.

Local landmark, but nothing especially noteworthy about the exterior or interior. If you are in the centro, it's definitely worth a walk-around.

The "highway" from Santa Cruz to Samaipata takes you from the flat of the Lowlands through the narrow, winding and steeply enclined river valley that leads to Samaipata and the ancient El Fuerte. The road is rarely in good condition and is frequently under repair due to the many land slides the region is prone to. But the steep mountain inclines, the tumbling river that clogs the narrow valley?gorge, the picturesque villages clinging to steep mountain sides are well worth the occasional difficulty. And Samaipata's historic quality and beauty are well worth and difficulties encountered on the road.

This looked like a US mall. Many shops with the usual assortment of fashionable clothes and uncomfortable but "cute" shoes. A camping store was novel. The supermarket Tia was a bit expensive but clean and convenient. The best thing about this mall was the very extensive food court with some very interesting options such as Brasaargent (excellent grilled meats with generous side orders included) and the Crepe shop. All very reasonably priced and quite good. Good size movie theater also there. Taxis were lined up outside so no problem getting back to your hotel.

Awesome day spent off roading, hiking, creature watching, and lounging by and splashing around in an absolutely beautiful waterfall. Nick and Caroline picked us up at the hotel, were full of cool local and ecological fun facts, and provided navigation (and lunch!) through the beautiful Jardin de las Delicias. Would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Santa Cruz! Thanks, Nick and Caroline!

It is a nature reserve composed of living beings that live in harmony in this reserve called Amboro National Park
We did as jungle tour to Amboro park with Amboro tours.
We really enjoyed ourselves.
Our guide was brilliant and was very patient with our limited Spanish.
The food was fantastic, and the walks were great.
Due to over poaching in the park the quantity of wildlife is a bit sparce compared to say the pampas tours.
The camping equipment could really do with being updated.
We found the tour company great, very accommodating.

We visited here during a visit to Santa Cruz in late September. The landscapes in the park are certainly spectacular but the surrounding area is full of encroaching poor quality housing and small commercial enterprises - bordering on squatter slums. Nevertheless, it's worth coming to see the sand dunes and other interesting areas.

I wanted to see sloths in the botanical garden but I wasn't lucky enogh. Anyway I liked the garden, it's more like a forest, I saw birds and monkeys. Though some paths were flodded but I crossed streams and muddy places barefoot. I just went about 2 km into the park and then mosquitos forced me to leave the place.
