Arimafuji Park

This is a decent size park with a great outdoor kids playground. There's some nice walking tracks which surround the large pond. This pond is popular with bird photographers and other wildlife can be seen depending on the season. Be careful of snakes in the warmer months. There's a tradition style house which is good for some pics. There are lots of different plants, trees and Gardens. Great place for a picnic, a walk or to let kids play. There's plenty of parking but this park does get rather busy during holiday periods.

Hyogo Prefectural Operated Human and Nature Museum

One of the most beautifully designed and operated museums I have ever been too. What a pity it is not better known.
Minimal entrance fee. Easily accessible from Kobe Dentetsu's Minami Woody Town Station. All the facilities for study, research or casual inspection you could ever hope for.
The name is a bit weird, but does accurately describe what is on offer. The museum portrays human and natural activities in Hyogo Prefecture, through explanatory panels, interactive exhibits, models, mosk-ups, diagrams, short videos, etc. Great for kids because of all the stuffed animals and interactive exhibits. Fascinating for adults. Catch the displays about the Kobe Earthquake and How to be a Naturalist. Facilities, too, for the serious scholar.
We were warmly welcomed, helped to buy tickets and then basically left alone. Not a lot of information in English. None in other languages (apart from Japanese) but the exhibits themselves are fun. It helps to have an elementary knowledge of Hyogo geography so that you can at least follow the maps.
Highly recommended.

This is a beautiful place to visit. The temple is situated about 25 mins drive from central Sanda. It's located at the top of a very steep road. There's parking at the top or leave your car at the bottom and walk up. There are many momiji trees so beautiful Autumn colors can be seen and also a nice lush green in summer. There's lots of traditional buildings, statues and a nice lookout which faces back towards Sanda City. Parking costs ¥500 and the grounds are usually very peaceful and seldomly crowded.
