The Park is quite central. Only about 5-10 min walk from the Parliament building and Main Street. It's so peaceful. A lovely Avery as well if you like birds. Really big playground for the kids. It's a great place even for a solo stroll.

The greatest open air market I ever went to. The choice is unbelievable. Do you want the best cheese you ever tasted? The best strawberries you ever tasted? Delicious breads? Rare and delicious tomatoes? Fresh mussels that were just picked? Olives? Sumptuous fruit or vegetables of all sorts? Poultry? Game? The best charcuterie available? That is the place for you. Heaven for foodies.

Centre Historique de Rennes

Rennes is one of those places people normally by pass whilst travelling south but this is a mistake. There is so much to see and enjoy in the city with its many cobbled walk ways, its pedestrian friendly routes and its host of shops and cafes that make it easy to be here. The Historical centre is really very fine with ancient timbered houses, small cafes and walk ways...there is a lot of renovation going on but its very good

We visited this building with a tour guide on a Saturday, when it is otherwise closed to the general public. It has been restored at great expense (Eur62m) over 10 years following an extensive fire in 1994. It is used as a criminal court and court of appeal. Well worth a visit with a guide - check out availability with Tourist Information office locally.

stayed in the campsite in the park a couple of weeks back. excellent base for visiting Rennes if you are in a tent or campervan. lots to do and see in Rennes and the park itself and the campsite is lovely and clear. Staff are very accommodating and friendly.
Bought bus tickets to city from campsite and it took about 20 minutes to get in.
The public swimming pool near the campsite in the park is fantastic!!! not like any public pool I've ever been to!! well worth a visit, men MUST wear speedos so make sure you have them or they are €14.00 from the pool.

Cathedrale Saint-Pierre

Reviewed By Jaap U - Zwolle, The Netherlands

This Cathedral has had some building problems, so it was partly rebuilt twice. The towers and front are the oldest parts.
The outside of the building in somber gray granite contrasts a lot with the rather luxurious interior. It's gold and colour everywhere, it reminded us of greek-orhodox churches. Don't forget to look up! The entire ceiling has been decorated as well.
Above the altar is a large painting of Christ offering the keys to Saint Peter, with the Latin text stating: tibi dabo claves regni caelorum , I will will give you the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. The same text cab be found in the St Peter in Rome.
Worth a visit, as it is very different from the other churches in the area.

If you have enough time, not to be missed. Quite a good collection of Egyptian art, renaissance, baroque, among others, and an interesting collection of Impressionism and other avantgardes of the beginning of the XXth century related to Bretagne. We had a very nice time there and it was for free which one always appreciate. Helpful staff.

Palais Saint-Georges

This is a colossal building built in 1670 it is now used to house council offices and part of it is a fire station! Wish my hometown had a fire station like that. The official name is Saint George's Abbot's residence. Anyway, it had beautiful large Gardens and is well worth a visit.
