Two adventures in two days .
The first was white water rafting with one adult and three teenagers (15,15,12). The location was intially difficult to find ,but liason with a mobile and a sat nav solved the problem. English was spoken when booking by phone and the guide was excellant.inspiring confidence throughout the whole 15 kilometer journey..Everyone found it very exciting ,but always safe and controlled. There was also a five year old who was allowed off the raft for some stretches that were more turbulant. There was also a photographer from several vantage point that could be bought at the end of the trip. The 15 kilometer raft trip was the perfect length ,with other trips probably too short.
The second day was 'canyoning' with the same company but a different guide who again was excellent, He spoke excellant english and took the family through ravines ,rivers and pools . There was some simple climbing, jumping from heights swimming and wading, all needing a reasonable level of fitness. There were different degrees of difficulty and my wife opted for easy with other levels involving rapelling, jumping ravines and abseiling..Everyone loved the experiance and were all challenged butnever felt unsafe.

We were impressed! You get a lot of information. I also liked the fact that there was info written for children in an easy to understand language. Impressive fossils and dino skeletons. The entrance fee of 8.5 euro is perfectly normal, would pay again without hesitation! If you are intrested in dino's do visit. If you are not you probably will be after visiting this great museum.

well worth a visit for the views alone, the restauarant at the entrance to the village is great. The church is small, but interesting, but obviously the place centres on its mysteries. There are a few artisanal shops, and a few shops selling conspracy stuff, books etc.. Sadly the devils head had been smashed off the font, but nonetheless im glad i've been. On a hot day it's worth the 2e to park in the village itself, as the hill is very steep.

The Aventure Active nautical base welcomes you for your leisure time with friends and family. Discover the joys of white water sports such as rafting and hydrospeed on the high valley of the Aude and canyoning in the gorges of Galamus.
Great rafting trip on the Aude. Teenage kids had super time. Dominic makes the entire experience fantastic. Would definitely do again.

The stables are a 5 minute drive from Quillan, or a 15 minute drive from Limoux. The owner/trail riding guide speaks fluent English and French and she caters for beginners, through to experienced riders. The horses are suitable for all levels of rider and the lessons/trail rides can be tailored to individual levels. You can ride up into the Mountains, the Plateau de Sault, chateaux, Rennes le Chateau or le Pic de Bugarach.
I was looking for a place to start riding again after a back injury and found not only wonderful horses, but training and friends. The people at Brezilou are fabulous and the trekking was beautiful, though I was more interested in the equitation classes I took, which helped me work on my seat and slowly get back into the saddle after almost 2 years out. I genuinely recommend working with Veronique for equitation, as well as if you want to have a fun trek through some tremendous French countryside.

This chateau is along a little road that's not to narrow. There is a decent car park, toilets and drink and snack machines, there are plenty of shaded picnic tables. It's a trek up from the entrance and quite rough and steep, there is plenty of shade so that makes it easier. The castle is very interesting and the views are amazing. It was certainly built to have a commanding position.

Brasserie du Quercorb is a Craft Brewery and Taproom producing a diverse range of luxurious, delicious, traditionally made beers. There's something for every palate. Our beers contain only natural ingredients, are unfiltered, unpasteurised and contain no animal by-products. The luxurious difference with our beers is the time and the care we take to condition them to yield the deepest flavours and textures. The BDQ Taproom and BDQ Cave à Bière is open all year round. The Taproom supports talented local musicians by hosting live music events & our favourite sporting events. Everybody is welcome. Summer & Autumn Open every day (except Monday) 11h00 until 20h00.
We called in with a party, including small kids, on an afternoon when the 3 staff were very busy cleaning out all the stainless steel tanks, preparatory to the weekly brew. Despite the fact that they were busy, we were welcomed in by the Proprietor, Paul (who runs the brewery together with his wife, Jane). We were able to taste the full range of beers, and they are really making some beers of quality, and are clearly developing their reputation in the locality. So, if you are in the Puivert area, and like boutique made beer, this brewery (on the main road outside the town) is a "must stop".

The abbey is just beside the tourist info place in Alet-les-bains, a beautiful little town near Limoux. The cost was about 6 euros for 2 adults and 1 child. It is much larger than it appears outside, with many rooms to explore. We spent about an hour here. Getting here is easy from Carcassonne using the 1 euro train.
