Really beautiful resort hotel with a very long beach, very clean, blue flag, crystal clear water, turtles if you are lucky. Excellent breakfast, fantastic staff, lots of activities should you wish, close to attractions if you feel like venturing further afield. Choice of many restaurants, pricey though. Alcoholic drinks very expensive we found. We had a room with an infinity pool which was stunning, just a bit too close to the swimming pool which was rather noisy as there are lots of kids! Our beach waiter Nestor, was wonderful and looked after us so well. We will be back!

If you like history then Pylos Castle is definitely worth a visit.
There are several interesting Exhibitions within the castle walls including local marine archeology work and a video telling the story of the naval battle of Navarino.
The castle walls are impressive as are the remaining internal buildings. The view of the Navarino Bay from the top of the castle is stunning.
Make your visit early morning or early evening to avoid the heat of the day. The Castle is open 8am to 8 pm Tuesday to Sunday. Entrance fee at the time of writing this is 6€. There is a small car park in front of the castle.
One word of warning, there is no shop, so if you go in the heat of the day take your own water!!
Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area

One of the best Beaches in the world. Truly amazing and inspiring. Unique setting; perfect semicircle, great sand, crystal water, ancient history (ships from the Trojan war harbored there!), overlooked by a castle... Will never forget climbing to the castle and overlooking the beach from above.

The castle is impressive, the views are fabulous, the town of Methoni is beautiful, spotlessly clean with lovely tree lined streets. Reasonable entrance fee of 2€ (1/2 for seniors). Nice taverna right on the corner opposite the parking lot for the castle.

After visiting the impressive Methoni Castle (see separate Review) this morning, my wife stopped off at the Pylos Fortress (known as Neokastro) en route back to the Westin Costa Navarino Resort.
Entrance fees are a little more expensive than Methoni (6 Euros per adult with 50% reduction for over 65s) but the site is just as large. As such, a brochure or map would have been most helpful.
For those prepared to scale the Fortress Walls there is a reward of panaromic views of the Costa Navarino Bay. The Church of Transfiguration of the Saviour is also worth a short visit.

This is an amazing remote beach. The water is very clear and it has a good temperature. There is no bar or restaurant around.

We visited this place for 2 days in the row. It's a fantastic sandy, family friendly beach with a bar. The coffee was very nice and the first day the lunch was quite nice too. I had a burger and it was really nice.
The second lunch was a total disaster! I ordered BBQ marinated chicken breast. After 2 bites I realized that it was undercooked, so I showed to the young waiter (very polite by the way...) the blood in it and he returned my plate back to the kitchen. After about 15min the same young and polite waiter brought the second chicken breast, that was cooked slightly better. After few bites though I realized that it was rare - medium rare again, so for the second time I asked the waiter to take my plate back to the kitchen...
There was not any response from the chef, anyone from the kitchen or the manager.
When I asked for the bill I realized that I was charged for the BBQ chicken breast like nothing ever happen, good job only once and not twice.
Be very careful with undercooked chicken, due to salmonella infections, especially in places that the nearest hospital is very far away...

You should be aware that Nestor's Cave is located in an area that is prohibited because of falling rocks. But the drive to the end of Voikokilia is well worth the view and lovely Beaches. At the end of the road, you can still walk up the hill to the left for a stunning view. There you can go up further to the Niokastro. A visit to this area is a must. If you have your own transport, it finishes off an excursion to the Museum of Nestor's Palace in Choros (and the Palace site itself, if open - currently closed for archaeological activity but the Museum contains all the artefacts from the site).

This is an OK beach in the area - it is quite steep and rocky in places but there are good opportunities for snorkelling and once you get out to sea it is more sandy. There is no beach bar or cafe so you need to bring your own food. The best thing about the beach was the almost stagnant looking river where we parked our car near the beach (on the right as you approach). In this we saw no fewer that 5 terrapins, 2 snakes, some toads and lizards. Everytime we looked in it we saw something new. That's the main reason we visited twice as there are some better Beaches in the area!

Discover the uninhabited Islands of Strofades, Proti and Sapientza on a sailing boat. Go sailing, snorkeling, trekking and fishing with IonianSail. Outdoor action at sea for all. Our team provides outdoor activities at sea to anyone who wants to go a little further than the seaside. Have a sea adventure with us, sailing to nearby Islands hiking on them. Spend a beautiful day and live the ionian sea from the inside.
The breeze helped for a great sailing trip, while the skipper refreshed our rusty sailing skills. The hiking and the view from the island was superb. On top of this we had for lunch the freshest fish ever..!
