Visited this restaurant with friends.We sat in the backyard and it was very pleasant after spending some hours on the beach that hot day!We chose different dishes such as village salat,cooked green leaves called vlita (best i have ever tried),filled zuchini flowers( kolokythoanthous),filled aubergine,fried zuchini and cheese saganaki.Everything was very special and delicious !definately recommend!

Every time we go to To Kastro, we have a disappointment concerning the menu's although day after day the do reprint the menu with the date of the day!
In fact the do almost never change the contempt of the menu, which is not nice for locals as we are.
Furthermore 'home wines' are of low quality and even a bottle of wine is of no quality and not worth the price.
It is a pity as we notice that the son (also a cook) of the house is incredibly active, runs around to serve his clients with a big smile and nothing is too much for him!
His father has a different mentality and dares to say :wine is wine...
The father urgently needs an education in whine tasting and obviously will discover what some not expensive wines really can stand for!
We want to give a chance to this son... by saying instead of serving he should be inside the kitchen, serve less precooked meals like stews. During summer time people expect light innovative recipes and a choice of creative salads! we are convinced that with these ideas they will become successful in a different way and differenciate from their competitors.

Begin this year the decor is renovated in nice green. Lily and Yanni and their super team made wonderful dishes. It is the ONLY restaurant in the area restaurant that gives nice sauces.
The expats knows this address as the best in town.
Some oven dishes are on a special Greek way but most are on LILY'S WAY.
After diner try the sweet chocolate cake with ice cream.

Have eaten here many times but saving a meal at Elena Taverna for the last meal of the hols was a mistake.
The food was bland, flavourless and not worth the money.
Taramasalata and skordalia were indistinguishable and one main of mixed fish was in parts inedible. The shrimp and mussel pasta had 3 mussels on it, one bad!!! why serve it !!!
You are paying for the view and the price is too high.

Best place to chill. The beach is amazing. Love the umbrellas. Nicely decorated with banana trees. Everything you'll need for all day long on the beach. Just one negative though. Worst wi-fi ever! Please do something and fix the signal and get rid the awful login screen method.

Oinoysses make lovely oven potatoes to accompany your food, this makes a nice change from the chips which seem to be fairly standard everywhere else. Two people can eat well here for less than 30 euro including wine.

The food is great and the owners are verry nice people. If you are looking for one excellent restaurant , with authentiqe greek food ( authentique for locals not for tourists !!!) and also a verry good and subtile blend of romanian&greek cuisine, this is the perfect place to go. They use only fresh organic ingredients and the olive oil is also organic, made by the owners.

you could not dream of a better location for a fish restaurant, just on the sandy beach of methoni, overlooking the small port and huge magnificent methoni fortress.
the food was excellent, the service perfect, the ambience superb.
what more can a man ask for ????

Panagiotis, the young owner, took over his grandfather's home in the hills above Pylos and Methoni, redecorated it keeping the original style, and with his mum opened a lovely restaurant where one can enjoy the view and the excellent homemade food. The stone house itself is lovely to visit. Make sure you try the traditional 'petes' (Crepe like pasta) and the pasta shells made with just flour and water and then sprinkled with melted butter and grated mizithra cheese. The only thing I did not find to my liking is that some of the appetizers were quite salty (pickled onions, beet roots, goat cheese).
The meat dishes are all very good - the liver we had was excellent. The tzatziki is one of the best I've had. The family grows a lot of the salads and vegetables they serve. Most meat is from the local area. The rosé wine is also their own and very good. At the end you will be offered a dessert. We had the halva - yummy! Another good thing is that it is open throughout the year not just in the summer. In the summer try to get one of the very few tables on the balcony.

Come detto nel titolo il valore aggiunto è la posizione. Mangiare la sera in riva al mare con il castello veneziano illuminato è uno spettacolo che vi porterete dentro tutta la vita. Il cibo risulta essere buono pur senza strappare applausi. Considerando il tutto lo consiglierei anche ad altri visitatori
