Brela is a beautiful town with amazing Beaches. All of the Beaches have clean and clear water. We are here in August and some of the Beaches are busy, however of you walk a bit you can find some that are secluded.

Put Vrulje Beach

Reviewed By Laurelurvan - Finland

Down from the highway 8 parking place goes a path to very nice beach. Fot the start path is quite easy but gets more difficult futher. In the end it's difficult to find it overall and last 50 meters are dangerous have to say. Be very careful. Doing the path takes more than 30 min downwards and 40 min upwards - with broken leg it is impossible.
Water is clear although nothing special too snorkeling. In south there is a cave and a river coming up under the sea! It's too far to swim there (and it could be dangerous too).
Boat trips are made there from Pisak and Jakirusa (you can rent your own boat). With boat this bay is more easy to access but if you like to walk like I did leave your car up and go. Hight difference between parking area and beach in quite lot aprox. 80 meters.
Beach is also ok for naturism (as I see it). Good way to spend a day and a little adventure too!

Wild Horses Safari

Reviewed By p.l. d - Omis, Croatia

Living in Dalmatia today (a móst happy retired Dutchman), from our town Omis to Livno takes about one hour by car.
Roads are good, border crossing no problem, and than starts the fun, because Herzegovina has a totally different type of nature.
Heading for Livno you'll pass Busko Jezero (a huge artificial lake with loads of fish).
Livno ain't that far (watch your speed !!!), and some parts of it are truly interesting (and a lot is not).
Take an hour to walk around, see some old mosques, have a coffee and some cevapcici, a typical Bosnian little sausage, grilled, served on bread, with onions and ajvar (sort of ketchup).
But let's talk about those magnificent horses, today more than two hundred, and increasing due to protection and voluntary care.
As a result of mechanisation those horses were set free again, and gathered in groups, as that's how horses live together.
In the nineties, the increasing population was under pressure from poachers, later they became protected by law, and today they are a tremendous attraction, íf.....you know where to find them.
Must admit I tried a couple of times, and saw some isolated smaller groups, but the réal impression is only experienced when hiring a local guide with a 4-wheel drive.
Since 2013/2014 there is/are such guided tours, and I am absolutely sure that such a day trip is worth every nickel you spend on it.
The encounter with such large groups of wild (fairly friendly) animals living in absolutely fantastic open nature is a once in a lifetime experience.
When Surfing a bit on the internet you'll find various pictures, videos, even some documentaries, but the very best still is to see it yourself.
Staying in Dalmatia (between let's say Split and Makarska) this is by far the very best advice I can give you.

Fortress Stari Grad (Fortica)

Reviewed By Les G - Horsham, United Kingdom

We unintentionally took the steep way up to the Fortica (from the river side) and had not appreciated that there was no definite path, just red and white circles/stripes to mark the correct, rather tortuous, route.
It was more of a climb over rocks, scree, holding onto pine trees to assist us.
It took us around an hour with our 50+ legs!
The view at the top was incredible, so worth the climb.
We felt sorry for the girl who works there having to make this journey every day.
The way we descended was more of a path, and again clearly marked, an easier option!
Take plenty of water with you, and wear walking boots, or trainers with good grip soles.
Don't forget a camera.

Poseidon Diving Center

We offer 1st time diving experience and divings for licenced divers and a lot of beautiful locations on Island of Brac and in Brela. It's a special feeling when a man dives into the underwater world - soothing silence, weightlessness and the endless blue - filled with many things of immense beauty.

We had a great afternoon on the small but cosy boat. We went with 10 other people but still the boat felt spacious. My main goal was to dive again after a couple of years without any dives. I was paired with another diver and we went 4 in my group without any guide. The dives went alright, however a personal guidence in the water would have been a plus. Now it felt lile the owner tried to sqeeze in to many activities. More exoerinced ones with discovery dives. The dives provided nothing special to see and do not expect to much.
Over all the owner and his daughter where really friendly and laughef a lot.

It truly is a stunning place, find yourself a bar to sit in and watch the world go by, lovely.

Omis and Cetina River

Reviewed By Travelfan - Los Angeles, California

Omis (pronounced Omish) harbor is flanked by natural stone walls. This used to be the center of pirate activity, and there are remnants of watchtowers built high on the rocks where townspeople would watch for incoming pirates. A short walk from the dock (we arrived by boat) is the old town, with its alleys, shops, and restaurants. Immediately upon arrival, our group walked through the old town to the river, where we got a slow motor boat through the river gorges. Lovely scenery, very quiet, and clear water. Motored upstream for about 45 minutes, then stopped at restaurant Romanove Mlinice (included in our boat ride) for a snack (see separate review). Trip back was about 30 minutes. Enjoyed walking through the small old town and seeing the towering stone walls. Very different than other ports, and very charming.

Biokovo Mountain

Reviewed By skimeld - London, United Kingdom

23km of single-track precipice-edged road make for a hairy drive; and is definitelty not for the faint-hearted. Follow the blue Jure cycle signs to the James Bond-esque radio tower at the 1762m top. Best sunrise views mean entering park at c.530am (end August) but well worth it. Bring a sweatshirt as chilly at that time of the morning. Take your time to explore the walks too however, as the park is full of meadows of beautiful-smelling pines, blue thistles and alpine flowers and grasses.

Reviewed By rmjose2001 - Barcelona, Spain

My husband and I really enjoyed the Sunset Tour offered by Celine and Mate at Kayak Brela!
The kayaking, snorkeling and swimming times during the excursion are properly coordinated and very entertaining.
When we arrived to the beach from the fantastic tour Mate was waiting for us with some delicious appetizers made by her mother, amazing wine and a chocolate cake to blow the candles!
Without a doubt, Kayak Brela is much more than a kayak tour, it is a unique experience!
We highly recommend the tour to everyone and look forward to repeating this experience in the near future!
THANK YOU CELINE & MATE FOR EVERYTHING!
