We had been to Pelling in May of 2017 and we stayed at Mount Pandim and this monastery was just opposite to the resort. It was a nice monastery and a very old one and they also have a good museum within the Monastery with some very old relics displayed there. The Monastery in itself was very beautiful and it was an unforgettable experience that we had. Definitely worth the visit if you are in the Pelling area.

This place is about 20 minutes walk from the main yuksom bazaar and about 10 minutes from the Kathok lake. The moment you enter through the gate of the coronation throne, you feel like you have been taken back in the time of the Namgyals.
This place is also every botanist's dream. A lot of rare and indigenous trees and plants can be found here.
Peace is one word to describe this place.

If you visit Namchi, this is a must see place. It has replicas of chaar dhams - Rameshwaram, Dwarka, Jagannath and Badrinath. It has a big Shiva statue and Shiva mandir. Evening arati is really a wonderful experience here. The place closes at 6pm and all the temple doors are closed beyond that time.

Samdruptse Monastery which is about 7kms from Namchi town and up on Samdruptse hill. Before Char Dham, this used to be the main attraction of Namchi, it is still very popular among tourists though. Outside the entrance there is a large paid parking. A large building has been constructed for covered parking in the upper floor as well as hosting shops at the ground floor.
Samdruptse means 'Wish fulfilling Hill'. The locals believe that the hill is actually a dormant volcano. The Buddhists lamas have been regularly offering prayers so that the volcano does not erupt. It has stayed calm so far. Buddhist prayer flags flutter on one side of the pathway. Take off your shoes before you climb the flight of steps to reach the upper platform.
Now look up and you will be awestruck with the mammoth 45-meter statue of Sikkim's patron saint Guru Padmasambhava set up on an elevated platform. The face is coated with gold that glitter in the sun. Walk around the platform (start from the lwft and make a full circle) and you can get magnificent view of the Mountains and Forests. The entry to the monastery is from the backside. The foundation stone here was laid by Dalai Lama on 22nd October 1997. Subsequently when the work started, it took over 3 years with many renowned architects, engineers and over 1,000 laborers who worked hard together to set up the statue and the monastery.

Huge monastery surrounded by the Mountains. You reach after about half an hour's drive from Ravangla through beautiful winding roads amidst a wildlife sanctuary. We spotted a couple of deer on our way! At the front exterior of the monastery, is a small fountain/pool with a statuette and a gatehouse like entry point. And when you enter the main compound an elaborately tiled porch greets you. The monastery is HUGE and surrounded by the monks' quarters. You can interact with the little guys who are undergoing their training and studies here. A lovely place and a must visit if you are near Ravangla. Just ensure that you do not disturb the sanctity of the place by any means with your presence.

Sikkim's ancient capital : Rabdantse... irrespective of whether you are a history buff or a nature enthusiast, this place will appeal to you. You can visit the recently opened bird Park en route to the Rabdantse palace complex. The rocky road which leads to the palace is a memorable walk in itself. Serene, tranquil nature at it's best. it is almost a kilometre's walk through hilly Forests with birds to keep you a constant company with their sweet chirping.
Once you reach the palace complex you will be awestruck with the ruins and the mesmerizing view of the surroundings. The omnipresent Kangchenjunga in it's full glory will be visible from the entire complex. The ruins are magnificent. You can feel like you have entered into history. It is well preserved and well maintained by ASI and the Sikkim Govt.
