The river is a peaceful walk along stepping stones. Bring binoculars, but I did not see any kingfishers on my visit. Maps are available at the tourist information area near the train station.

Walk from Mishima Station, about 1 hour. Kakita-River Park is a spring water park by the underflow water of Mt. Fuji. Enjoy and explore the abundant spring waters and lush greenery. You can see the big Mt.Fuji. There are water park for children to play, big parking, Japanese Soba restaurant and clean toilets.

While staying with friends in Mishima we were taken to see this lovely Shinto Shrine.
Quite a decent size complex with a lot of very old history, some lovely stone carvings and well set up & maintained Gardens
At the front entrance which is right on the main road you go through a great stone Tori Gate, a bit further on to the left is a little island area in the waterway which contain a very attractive small shrine with an amazing curved lantern.
There were plenty of priests and their helpers about all dressed in traditional clothes as there were three weddings happening, the brides and grooms all looked great in their traditional wedding outfits.
Easy place to get too right in town and a must place to visit , we loved it .

This place can be easily reached by taking the bus from Mishima Station. There are many types of fort ruins, each with interesting purposes/ stories behind it and you can even stand in some forts. However, there are no English explanations so it may not be too tourist-friendly for those who don't speak Japanese.
People who enjoy hiking would enjoy this place as well, since there is a lot of walking and wandering around in nature.
Just make sure to bring water because I don't remember seeing a vending machine there. The only place with food/drinks I remember seeing is an udon noodle place right where you get off the bus. (And maybe bug repellent spray if you don't like bugs)

It was nice but pretty crowded and felt a bit like a tourist trap. Nice view of Mount Fuji before the clouds started to cover it up. You can also look through the grate and see the valley down below. You probably won't need more than an hour here.
At a booth near the bus stop right by Izuhakone Railway's Mishima Station, you can buy "Mishimaru Ticket" for 900 yen which allows you to take the bus freely in the area (return bus fare to Sky Walk alone is normally 1120 yen), like to Yamanaka Castle Ruin Park 4 minutes away by bus. You can also get a set ticket for the bus pass and entrance to Sky Walk for 1800 yen (1000 yen just for admission usually) and you'll have to change that for the admission vouchers at the entrance. It takes roughly 30 minutes by bus (2 to 3 buses an hour on weekends and just once an hour on weekdays).

Very nice park, convenient to train station. Very walk-able and with sights to see. Zoo is paltry, but swans, ducks and geese adorn the park and make a walk of the grounds enjoyable and beautiful. Amusement area for little children with light refreshments available (drinks, ice cream). Inexpensive and worth a visit if you are in Mishima!

show your passport at a tiket office in a station. You can ride bus and railway as often as you like during a day. Please note that this ticket is only for Izuhakone railway and bus.

It is sad that a Japanese garden Park in which a pond has been drained because of local industries over use of the ground water still sits dry. You would think that they would fill it given the fact it is a central point of the garden. Instead they are forever hopeful that spring rain will help refill. Having paid admission I expected more. The park does have an amusement area for children which is well used.

The museum is known by the collection of Japanese sword and Japanese paintings. Also the Japanese garden nearby is a great stroll-around garden. The museum sells Four-language(Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean) video guide of Mt. Fuji pricing at 2,000 yen. The museum is open from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. except on Thursdays, year-end and newyear holidays. Also the museum may close during the preparation time for the next exhibit.Admission fee depends on the content of the exhibition. 700 yen or more for adults.
