A museum of the history of education set in a complex of historic classrooms and schools buildings. With four historic classrooms, the delightful Headmaster's House, displays, Exhibitions, cafe and shop, this really is the place where learning comes to life. Please check website before visiting for up to date visiting times and special events.
An old school turned into a museum. Very hands on for children and adults. Informative and friendly volunteers who feel passionately about the museum. You could easily spend a few hours here learning about schooling in yesteryear. Now a grade 11 listed building it's a real asset to Hitchin. There is a cafe and gift shop on site too.

The Stotfold watermill is a wonderful learning experience and the volunteers do a great job of enthusiastically explaining the entire process. The mill is perfectly maintained, with pictures, tools, equipment and a miniature working model all aimed at making it an enjoyable visit. And it's free !!
We had tea and cakes in the tea room and bought flour and oats in a small shop inside the mill. Make time for a walk in the nature reserve which has some interesting spots and a wide range of wild plants.
A perfect place for a lazy Sunday afternoon as the mill is open to the public only on Sundays. Check their schedule before you visit.

Sadly we had a very unexpected bereavment and required a venue for a light lunchtime buffet. Naomi the events manager was so kind and understanding. Nothing was too much trouble and when the numbers kept increasing and increasing she was brilliant.
Little extras which I hadnt though about where added to make to whole event very respectful.
Some of our guests had challenging dietary requirement and even on the day Chesfield quickly catered for them which was very much appreciacted.
I would certainly recomment this venue and I look forward to returning for a happier occasion.

We're a family owned and run farm. During the summer months (check the website for precise dates)we're open to visitors who are able to wander up and down the miles of lavender rows we grow. We also have a small gift shop and offer light refreshments too. Coach groups or large parties are only possible by prior booking. Hope to see you soon!
Great day out, fantastic scenery, postcard pretty. Certainly instagrammable! For only £5 entrance fee, one gets to enjoy the stunning lavender fields, and you can even bring a few sprigs back home. There’s also a gorgeous field of sunflowers. The place opens from late May. I suggest you go visit then or in June. I went end of July and while it’s still very pretty, you can tell that it’s past it’s best season.

Bit of an impromptu visit on a cold afternoon. Place was clean and tidy. There didn’t seem to be many animals to see at this time of year yet ticket price still remained the same so that was a big downfall so we weren’t there very long. Kids spent more time in the park than anything else. We felt a bit let down.

There is no simpler way to treat yourself than at The Bannatyne Spa. I have now visited several times. Although we weren't able to book ther Aquafit there had been cancellations and we managed to get in, which started our day well. The facial and back massage alone are worth the cost of the day, lovely as usual.

Graveley offers a whole host of picturesque settings for a balloon ride. With many pretty cottages and houses, there is much to investigate in this small village. If you fly south your balloon basket might drift over Stevenage, and if the will of the wind carries you in a westerly direction look out for Hitchin - a perfect backdrop for a balloon ride.
Had a great morning flight, with pilot Gavin and crew, Colin and Oliver. Took off from a field near Knebworth and enjoyed the doing the whole experience, from helping to inflate the balloon, flying peacefully over towns and countryside, picking out swimming pools, chickens, trampolines ( who knew there were so many) to skimming treetops and landing in a muddy field. Champagne at the end topped it all off. Great experience well worth the delay and cancellations due to weather conditions not being right. Very professional crew who kept safety and enjoyment as their top priority. Brill.
