Visited the Highlander yesterday for our office Christmas meal. Lovely welcoming atmosphere in a cosy setting. The staff were courteous, efficient and very friendly. I had the beef cheek with creamy mash and red wine jus. It was to die for. There was much plate envy from colleagues who opted for the traditional Turkey. The beef was beautifully cooked and melted in the mouth. I noted that this dish was available only on the Christmas set menu and I would suggest that this dish be added to the regular winter menu. It is a real winner!

Small 36 seat only restaurant strongly advise pre booking Friday/Saturday evenings to avoid disappointment
My friend and I tried to have lunch here with our young children (all under 3)... we were refused rather rudely before we even entered the restaurant as we had a pushchair. The lady running the restaurant shouted "no no, no room, don't come in". My friend then went in to enquire about waiting for a table the response was "don't recommend" and we were left to go elsewhere. It's strange how the 3 groups of people who entered after us were found a seat within minutes of entering!
Unfortunately this isn't a one off this has happened 3 times previously to my friend, each time being turned away because she has children! Disgraceful. I don't often leave a terrible review, but they were asking for trip adviser reviews in the window - so you've got one.
If you have young kids try going at the risk of being turned away.

What a wonderful find, I was looking for a dog friendly pub in the area and found the Hermit of Redcoats.
The team are very friendly and welcoming, the food was fantastic, would recommend the Sunday roast pork - it was delicious.
Also, our dog Lucy loved it!

Must have driven by this place thousands of times over the years but we had never been in. Having rectified that we enjoyed a splendid lunch to celebrate an anniversay. The service was swift and pleasant and the food (free-range chicken and bacon pie) excellent. If we had one slight issue it was that the background music was, at times, too loud. Nevertheless a good experience.

Visited for a family birthday, large table of 10.
The restaurant was very busy and seemed fun.
They do a set price menu, for 2 courses and 3. Which is quite a good idea, especially for big groups.
The service was very good, particularly with the drinks. We all chose a varied selection from the menu. I chose an aubergine starter, that carried a £1 supplement, I failed to see why, as there was just two small bits of aubergine, covered in tomato sauce and yogurt.
I think generally we all felt the food could have been better, but we enjoyed the evening very much.

First visit to Groundworks. Ordered coffee & bacon sandwiches. Coffee came at least 15mins before the food, therefore long gone before the food arrived. Pleasant, but ridiculously slow service. Won't be back!
