Today, I visited the Gongendo Sakura Tsutsumi, the long park with Cherry Blossom along the river bank at Satte, Saitama Prefecture!! It was crowed because of Sunday, but really beautiful. But, petals were failing very much, indicating that this is the final Sunday of this year to see Cherry Blossom here. This is definitely one of the best places to see Cherry Blossom in the vicinities of Tokyo!!

Fantastic Onsen, with a large variation of baths and a great atmosphere. Take a few hours to relax and enjoy. Appreciated the fact I could share the sauna with a mixed group of friends. Would go back in a heartbeat. Highly recommend it.

I visited Tobu zoo and it's accompanying theme park with some friends in September 2015. It's a nice enough park, plenty to do, don't miss Kawasemi and Regina! Some nice views over the lake are available too. I didn't see much of the zoo itself but I did hear from friends that the animals were in small cages and looked very thin. Entry was around £20, there is a nice small gift shop and places to eat.
A shuttle bus runs regularly from the nearby station.

This festival is held every year between late March and early April in Gogendo Park, which is located in northern Satte City, Saitama Prefecture. In spring the Yoshino cherry trees planted along a 1km long embankment in the park bloom all at once, creating a breathtaking tunnel of flower petals. The nighttime lighting of the cherry blossoms near Toge no Chaya are also unmissable viewing. The bright yellow of the rape blossoms that bloom along the embankment also make for a beautiful contrast. During the cherry blossom season, some 100 street stalls are set up alongside a variety of events including product fairs, haiku competitions, Japanese tea parties, and Marathon races.
Gongendo Sakura Festival is held every year from late March to early April.
Take the subway Hibiya line from Ueno station to Kita-Senju station, and transfer at Tobu Sky Tree Line to Satte station and walk 2.3 km from the station, you'll arrive at Satte Gongendo.(About 1 hour 30 minutes from Ueno station)
Ueno Park is also famous for its cherry blossoms, but much better the contrast between Sakura and Canola flower fields is very beautiful at Satte Gongendo. I think that it is worth to come up from Ueno.
Tunnnels of Cherry blossomes on the banks along the river are very beautiful. And there is a hundred of food cart. Please come and enjoy it.

This festival, which has a history of over 230 years dating back to 1783, is held by the Yakumo Shrine, which is the patron shrine of the former Kuki City. The highlight of the festival is the seven large traditional Japanese floats held by each district that carry musicians as well dolls representing the gods out of the old myths across the city during the day. At night, the dolls are taken off the floats in exchange for some 500 paper lanterns. The sight of the 7.5M tall floats festooned with lights and gathered in the Kuki Station West Gate Plaza where they are made to spin around and collide with each other is awe-inspiring and justifies the festival's reputation as the premiere lantern festival of the Kansai region.
