The natural reserve contains lots of bunkers dating from WW1 built by the Germans out of fear for an attack by the allies passing through Holland (border 5 km away, they built trenches in order to prepare for such an attack but they never were used because no attack took place. the whole thing is well documented, and it is also a fun walk betweeen the pine trees in the reserve, kids and dogs friendly.btw the germans had cut all trees in the area so it was a complete desert. Also they built an electric fence on the border with holland.

Skydive Hoevenen is a small but pleasant paraclub based at the border of the port of Antwerp. This unique location at a world harbor makes your visit that little more special. Fly with our Cessna 206 Turbine to almost 4 km high and enjoy the spectacular view of the harbor.
If you are close to Antwerp definitely visit them. Whether to just to taste the feeling of flying by doing a tandem jump, or to learn how to fly by yourself this is the best place to be. Truly wonderful people are there to support...MoreThank you, Ilias! Always nice jumping and talking to you too!

Let me start by saying that I've only visited 'Den Deugeniet' once so far so my opinion is based on this one visit. We made the conscious decision to visit after nap-time of our 2 year old because Playgrounds like this can get pretty crowded, especially on weekends. By the time we arrived, which was around 5pm on a Sunday, people already started to leave. Half an hour later, there were several empty tables right next to the toddler's play area. These are top spots, because you can let your kids play, while being able to watch them from your table.
Because of the size of this place, I never got the feeling a truckload of 2 year olds was screaming right into my ear all day. Instead, the noise and the yelling didn't really bother me. I'm comparing this to some of the much smaller indoor Playgrounds I've visited the past two years. I was impressed.
'Den Deugeniet' offers a pretty wide range range of drinks, snacks & hot dishes. Prices are good. Quality looked ok but I can't say much about it because we only had a deep fried snack ourselves.
The playground itself was simply impressive. Two separate Playgrounds for toddlers aged 1 - 3y. Helicopter rides. Car rides. Slides. Carrousels. Face paint for kids. Photo ops. More slides. There's indoor Playgrounds but also outdoor Playgrounds. It really is a lot and I cannot see how a kid could ever be bored there.
It's possible to arrange birthday parties here and they offer a selection of deals where each kid gets a pancake or a hotdog, icecream, drinks, etc for a fixed amount of money.
All in all we enjoyed it a lot and will definitely go back !

Walked there for 4 hours. Very pretty area: sandy patches, woodland, lakes, sheep and galloway cattle grazing. Wonderful views! A must do for nature lovers. We did the knooppunten walk. Saw many frogs and newts. Saw many people having a picknick. The visitor centre is also worth a visit: many leaflets!

I regularly stay in this area and this farm provides an great setting for meeting people whilst keeping the kids perfectly happy.
It has a little play area, a woodland path, plenty of space for kids to run around and of course the animals. For the adults there is the relaxing Terrace outside from where you can easily keep an eye on the kids whilst enjoying your beverage of choice. The cafe also provides a good choice of snacks.

It seemed like a nice idea, but I felt it was too crowded and slightly boring. It didn't help that our bike (a 5-person one) kept falling of the track (in total about 5-6 times). Luckily we were in front and we had very nice people behind us to help multiple times but when biking with a senior and 3 young kids this is not something you fancy doing. In that sense it helped it was busy otherwise what would we have done? The bikes are heavy and it takes several adults to lift it back on the track and even more if it gets really stuck. We decided not to return and we're picked up on the other side. Just too much hassle. A shame as the idea is great and unique but the execution is poor. The people behind us only had one chain on the bike instead of 2, making it extremely heavy. At the other end they told us to ask for money back but even thoughI mailed, never got a reply. I forgot about it. It's not that I wouldn't recommend, I just wish it was better. I didn't feel it was a relaxing cycling trip.

Leopold II had this unusual rail station built as a neo-Baroque monument to the railway age in 1905.
Good place, just be careful of 3 things, 1. People asking for cigarettes and money 2. Some people engage you in a conversation and try to rob your baggage 3. Some cabbies don’t accept cards so better ask upfront before boarding the vehicle
