The Masarykovo namesti means Masaryk Square (Masaryk was a great Czechoslovak President before II world war). Square is huge and impressive but in the centre is awful post communist building. Now there are store and McDonald's. Around the square you can see beautiful old buildings. Come and see.

I was there with my boyfriend and we came at 6.30 p.m. (they were opened till 8 p.m.). So, we ask for the ticket till the pool is open. The worker was speaking a little bit english and give us plastic cards for the enter (it was quite cheap) and she also say that now is wateraerobic there. Then we gave 10 crowns for lockers (small one, just for watches, money, keys) and entered. There small problems starts, because there are different places for mens and womens - usally we have the same room, so we also have our things together in 1 bag :) AND there is also different entrance to the swimming pool area :) It was strange for us, but maybe is it everywhere in Czech R. like this. We came at the time when there was a water aerobics, so it was very crowdy and hard to swim, but you can also go to jacuzzi or one spaecial water vortex - it is very funny :) Even at winter time, when just inside area is open - there is very good slide :D They also have wellness part with saunas and massagess.
So, we spend nice time there, but too short, because 10 minutes before 8 they already say something on a loudspeaker and we had to go out. Then you have to take a shower (without swimwear) and in next room you have to come dry! So, then quite quick everyone left, because the cleaning ladies were washing us out .. So, it was nice, but for us strange and new system :)

The museum is just on the edge of the main town square and takes about 10-15 mins to walk from the bus station. Having called up the previous day, we had arranged an english tour guide. On our arrival, the lady at reception very apologetically informed us that the tour guide was away. However, she provided us with an audio guide free of charge which contained 9 different tracks in English. I personally was quite disappointed with the museum because firstly, there were very few authentic artefacts. Even the documents behind glass were clearly photocopies. Second, the information in the museum relates mostly to Mahler's years of his life in which he resided in the house. I was very disappointed that hardly anything in the museum related to his music or musical composition. I understand that Mahler's musical history is probably more appropriately provided in his composition huts in Austria, however I was still disappointed at the lack of musical content. I did however learn some knowledge about Mahler's family life that I did not previously know. However, on the whole I would unfortunately not recommend this museum to others.

Jihlava fortification is one of most beautiful short city walks in this region, I particularly like the Playgrounds and new small lake with Gustav Mahler's statue. There are plenty nice places to sit down and enjoy the moment.

The museum is bigger than expected. It provides information on silver mining history, second world war, nature in the area and the history of Jihlava and surroundings. There are always some temporary Exhibitions too. There is a guide taking you around if you wish. Personally I liked that the wax statues, models, interactive displays (kids liked the slide into the mine) and touch-on boards are involved. Do not neglect this museum once in Jihlava.

Gates of Holy Mother are on the fortification in Jihlava. They also represent one enter to the main square. For 25 CZK (around 1 EUR), you can climb on the top and on this way you can take a look at some pictures of old town Jihlava. When you are on the top of gates, there is a nice view on the town. At the front desk is also possibility to buy some souvenirs or postcards and you can also get other informations about the Exhibitions etc. in the town.

Catholic church from the 14th century, with plenty of valuable art objects such as unique Piety from 1330, statue of Saint Catherine, gothic statue of Saint Jacob. The biggest painting is 7,5m high " Decapitation of St. Jacob" made by one the court painters of Marie Terezie J. N. Steiner. The church is opened regularly during the religious services and Concerts. Tourists can see it 30 minuts before the service and after the service.
