We took the bus #203 from the Zwolle railway station, within 15 minutes we arrived at the stop Hattem Centrum. From the very first moment we enjoyed the great mediëval atmosphere in the village. The very interesssting Dutch Bakery Museum is located at the edge, almost hidden in a small street. It looks small but after entering you will be overwhelmed how many rooms and levels this museum has, incredible! It's a kind of trip into history when baking started to become popular due to the growing population. You will see a lot of old machines and devises, tools and huge puppets in original clothing, pretty nostalgic. When you have reached the lowest part of the museum, the path goes under the road and finally you will arrive at the other side of the museum. There you can enjoy a range of nice baking items in the small restaurant. Highly recommended and not to be missed if you intend to visit Hattem, one the Hanze villages.

This really nice city gate and very tall. I saw it only from the outside. It is a must see when visiting Zwolle and is in the central area. I don't know if it is possible to visit inside but I didn't see anyone going in on the Sunday I visited. I've seen many other nice city gates in the Netherlands and this is to me second only slightly behind the great Koppelspoort in Amersfoort. The area outside the gate has a nice canal.

Goede parkeer gelegenheid. Prachtige vlaktes met heide. Mooie wandel paden.

After visiting the Dutch Bakery Museum we walked to the other side of the village where the Anton Pieck Museum is located. When you are in front of this museum, it's a bit confusing because the Voerman Museum has the same entrance... We asked about this and the crew explained that the Anton Pieck museum is on the backside of the building, you have to walk through the Voerman Museum. The entrance of the Anton Pieck Museum is on a nice romantic small square. After entering the museum you will discover that this museum is way larger than at a first look, it has three levels. It delivers the many elements of the unique style of Anton Pieck. In a movie he explains that he names his style 'romantic', not very popular in the days he started painting. But nowaydays he is famous, I think in almost every Dutch family there is an Anton Pieck painting or birthday calender! The museum is wonderfully and very tastefully designed and has several parts that are focussed on the Anton Pieck his varied romantic style. A jawdropping museum!

This small museum contains some historical exhibits related to the area of Hattem and a collection of paintings by local painters Voerman Senior and Junior. It is located in a traditional house and the only entrance to the Anton Pieck Museum is through the Voerman Museum and a small courtyard. Since you will be visiting the Anton Pieck Museum -- highly recommened -- you should take the time to peruse both floors of the Voerman Museum as you pass through.

This theatre is modern, clean and has a lot to offer. They have great shows. But keep in mind if you buy one of the cheapest tickets, you'll sit very high and might not see everything as well as you want to. Do not cut down on the price.
Easy to get here by bus and great parking availability just next to the theatre.

Its' a beautiful building both on the outside and the inside. There still are regular church services, but the space is also regularly used for Exhibitions and other activities. I often have a quick look when I'm in the area.
