Chrissi Ammos Beach

The most beautiful beach I have ever been, with the most talented discs jockey with the most successful musical choices I have ever listen. The most helpful and polite waiters and beach staff I have ever encountered. This beach is definitely a reason for someone to visit the island of Andros. I highly recommend this beach and the hostels that are located around.

Cyclades Olive Museum

To arrange a visit on a different day and time, please contact the museum. Don't be put off by the name 'museum', this is not a sterile exhibition of dusty artefacts but a carefully restored Cycladic olive mill. The attention to detail in the restoration is incredible and this alongside a video presentation and a personal talk by the owner make this a really special and informative experience. It is the best preserved animal powered old olive mill in Andros island. The mill was restored and transformed into museum, in order to offer to every visitor, regardless of age, the option to come close to the underling culture of the valuable product and to get familiar with the old traditional techniques of olive oil production as well. Besides they can see the traditional technics of constructing buildings in Cyclades through the centuries.

Fellos Beach

In our 20+ years of going to Andros this has become one of our favourite Beaches - we go every year. It's easy to find and always quiet. The swimming is lovely because it's always sheltered from the wind. Be careful if parking your car under the tamarisk trees - the twigs can badly scratch the paintwork (we know from bitter experience!).
It's a nice stroll to the little tavern for lunch. All-in-all, a perfect, non-commercialised Greek beach.
PS: I've attached photos of the beach from winter 2016 - snow!

Capriccio

Reviewed By nonsuchgirls - Lichfield

Wandered into the harbour area just before sunset in the week before Easter. Lots of places were still preparing/ painting/ taking deliveries etc... Not so this lovely bar overlooking the harbour, west facing so we had the mellow sunset colours.
Everything was prinstine, lovely white washed walls and pale blue cushions.. A wide choice of Seating styles on the terraced out side area.
A very pleasant server immediately brought water in classy glasses so we had something whilst ordering/waiting for our drinks. The white wine was so delicious we could have stayed for more but the complimentary selection of nuts/snacks wouldn't have been enough to keep us on an even keel.
Wow, as the sun set it became even more wonderful!

In our hotel in Batsi was an information-flyer from Andros by Bike and I got my bike the next other day directly in the hotel. It was a light Fitness bike with small and good rims, perfect for a fast ride on the streets of Andros. I took the road from Batsi to Katakoilos, Revmata to the highest point of the street (720m, be careful when there is strong wind from the north) and then to Vourkoti, Apikia and Andros Chora. In the old town are many perfect places for a coffee break. Then the next climb Mesa Horio, Livadhia, Vouni to the Ormos Korthi. Follow the main road in the valley of Korthi to the climb of Aipatia and Kapparia. Then you are on the street on the west coast back to Batsi. The Meltemi wind was blowing strong this day and it was sometimes dangerous and hard work to do. It was a tour about 100 km and with 3 hard climbs. And don't underestimate the Meltemi.
Many thanks to Leandros for the good bike, the important advices and the friendly service!

Vitali Beach

Reviewed By athena a - Limassol, Cyprus

This is a very nice area, it is worth the trip there. Once you get there, (the road is ok but then gets tough but any car can drive there), you are faced with a lovely little church, typical sight of Greece, which still maintains its religious character unlike other european countries I have visited. There are two Beaches there, one with some umbrellas and the other without. We chose to go to the one without any umbrellas cause we found it more picturesque. The water was not very cold (it was in August), there was luckily for us no wind (wind in Andros is a huge problem), and the sea was not deep. Great for those who can not swim like me. The rocks around the beach offer shadow and we sat there to have a Sandwich before departing. It was a great day.

Agios Petros Beach

Reviewed By MommyMoe - Vancouver, WA

Being a family, we avoided the more popular crowded area with music and the beach bar. But there was plenty of room to have a space of sand to relax and play in the water. The sand slopes down gently and gradually for a long time so it is easier to swim with younger ones without worrying about a sharp drop off. There are also people wind Surfing and paddle boats it looks like you can rent. There is also a nearby supermarket on the road so you can pick up supplies if needed, including the popular ice cream.
