Perched serenely on the banks of a sparkling river, Eskilstuna is a charming medieval city in southeast Sweden. The trees near the towering Klosters church boast great puffs of pink blossoms, making for cinematic springtime. The Parken Zoo features animals from all over the world, including an impressive Komodo Dragon.

Sadly, we had only an hour to visit this museum before its closing time. There is a lot there especially if you are interested in tractors and other machinery. It is especially interesting because it is in the former factory.

We visited at the beginning of July, and even though we arrived 30 minutes after opening in holiday-season there were no lines or a full carpark, very nice indeed.
The entrance includes both the zoo and the amusement part, even though I think the price is a bit high.
It is really clean everywhere and there are a lot of cool animals to see and you get really close to all the animals which is fun for the kids.
They even have a petting zoo with bunnies, goats, lamas, chickens and so on.
Eating here is probably not the best gourmet-experience but ok.
In the zoo part there is also a very big playground for the kids to run around in.
The amusement part is ok for younger children, teenagers will probably be a bit bored with the rides which looks a bit dated.

This site is definitely worth a visit if you are nearby and interested in Viking history.
There are runes on both runestones and carved into rocks, and this one is carved directly into the rock.
There are easy signs to follow to the sight, ample parking nearby, and there is a sign in English explaining the history of the carving and it's symbolism.
Worth a visit if you are touring the area.

Eskilstuna Konstmuseum is an art museum with paintings and contemporary arts. When we visited the museum last week, they had temporary Exhibitions of paintings by the painter Peter Frie and rings made of broken glass by jewelry artist Titti Bjernér. Very interesting Exhibitions. This museum is worth a visit if you are in Eskilstuna. The entrance fee is free.

Kept driving past this huge place while we stayed in Eskilstuna, so decided to stop in one day, as it seems to be open to the public always. Wow, what a beauty! Made of brick (about 140,000!), this place sure was astounding to walk inside of!

Eskilstuna City Museum is a local history museum located on the Factor Holm in central Eskilstuna. Experience a fully functioning mechanical workshop and steam engines from a sworn era. In the experimental space Factotum, you can experiment with magnetism, electricity and centrifugal power. At the museum you can also find the exhibition Lilla Stadsmuseet (the Little Town Museum) a colorful journey through history, where children and adults together can experience Eskilstuna's history. Free entrance!
Big imaginative play area of medieval Eskilstuna town...with dressing up and activities
Including a working digger made the little ones very happy, and 2 rooms of science experiments and giant Lego and mecano kept the boys( aged 7 and 9) and the adults amused for a good hour, and would have stayed longer if the parking hadn't run out! And it's free. Really recommended

In the city square there is a perfect benches for kind of lay down. Or even an area of grass witch is on the angle towards the sun side.
So if on your visit it is a good weather so go there for a cup of tea, ice cream or lunch. Or all together.
With my colleague we even took a "power nap" on that bench.
Uf that was perfect hour of doing NOTHING
