A warm welcome awaits you at Glen Moray Distillery in Elgin. Glen Moray has been distilled on the banks of the River Lossie since 1897 by a small dedicated team of craftsmen. In over a century of distilling at Glen Moray, much has changed. However, the ingredients, processes and the skills of those responsible for producing this finest quality single malt whisky remain constant. A small, friendly and informal distillery, Glen Moray is situated in the city of Elgin, the historic capital of Speyside. The area around Elgin is known as the Laich of Moray and has a mild climate. Indeed, an old Moray saying proclaims that the Laich of Moray has forty days more summer than any other part of Scotland – making Glen Moray one of the sunniest Distilleries in Speyside. The Visitor Centre runs tours of the distillery, tastings of the whiskies available and has a small coffee shop and gift shop.
Great afternoon out with family and nieces. The tour was engaging and interesting and they even involved the children. The tasting session at the end was very worth while and excellent value for money. We will be back with more friends.

This castle was built in 1140 AD and is the best-preserved example of a 12th-century moat-and-bailey style structure.
There is not a lot left of Duffus Castle but we found the visit to be rewarding. Admission is free. There is about a 1/4 mile hike from the carpark to the ruins sitting on a hilltop. The grounds are well kept. Even though there are not a lot of stairs and rooms to crawl around and explore, we really enjoyed our visit. It's a little off the beaten track as we were the only visitors.

Elgin Cathedral, also known as the ‘Lantern of the North’ is a majestic, historic ruin situated in Elgin. Elgin Cathedral is one of Scotland’s most beautiful medieval buildings, dating back to the 13th century. Elgin Cathedral has a rich history - it was badly fire damaged in 1390 following an attack by Robert III's brother Alexander Stewart, Earl of Buchan, who was also known as the ‘Wolf of Badenoch’. The two towers of the West Front and the Chapter House are intact and open to the public and the climb is rewarded with magnificent views of the town of Elgin. The top of the tower has an open viewing platform with information boards highlighting the visible landmarks. The ceiling of the chapter house is considered to be one of the country’s finest octagonal structures and those with a keen eye may still see traces of gold paint. Joint ticket with Spynie Palace available: Adult £9 Child £5.40 Concession £7
What can I say about this site!!
One of the best and most interesting Cathedrals in Scotland.
I happened to visit on a lovely sunny day, and was able to take in the beauty of the Cathedral.
They have a really interesting exhibit, with one of the Archbishop's stone coffin. Using sophisticated lights and projections, they show you how the coffin would have looked when it was created several hundred years ago.
Well done to the team that created this particular exhibit!!
If you are able, climb up the stairs to get magnificent views of the surrounding area.

Pluscarden Abbey is a haven of tranquility and peacefulness rarely found in this world. The monks are very welcoming no matter your denomination or belief or even if you have none. The architecture is amazing when one thinks of the lack of Equipment available when it was originally built. The history of the place and dedication of those who revived it and are continuing to develop this great Abbey is truly amazing.

What an excellent hidden gem. It's a ruin that has been considerately renovated enough to allow you to climb stairs and explore, while still using your imagination. Great value.

A small cafe-bar found up a historic close in the heart of Elgin. We stock more than 130 single malt whiskies as well as local beers and great coffee and tea. The wifi is fast and free and we provide indoor & outdoor Seating and helpful, friendly service.
A very enjoyable early supper. Two pasta and one pork tenderloin. All nicely presented, sensible portions and very tasty. Two of us had lovely poached apple. One of us had the panacota. All puddings were lovely.
The pub is comfortable, no tv screens so a great place to relax.
Very helpful staff.
Definitely worth a visit. We will certainly go again.

When James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail announced the opening of their 'centrical and commodious premises' on South Street,Elgin, on 24th May 1895 they would be proud to see it still trading today. When you visit the shop you will be greeted with the aroma of home cooked local gammon, the largest selection of the finest cheeses available in North East Scotland and shelves packed with a fantastic array of high quality grocery products. No visit to the Gordon & MacPhail store would be complete without a visit to the Whisky Room. Stocking around 800 different single malt whiskies, the Whisky Room attracts customers from throughout the world to its crowded shelves. Browsing through the wide selection of whiskies, many of which are very old and extremely rare, you have entered the Aladdin’s Cave of whisky.
From whisky liquors to whisky cakes, this shop really has everything about Scottish whisky! It's a bit difficult to choose from such a huge variety, especially since you cannot taste/nose them all!

***Please note: The Motor Museum is only open from Easter Weekend until the end of October and is CLOSED for winter.*** Based in the centre of Elgin (the capital of Morayshire, close to the Cooper Park), Moray Motor Museum is housed in a light and airy old mill building, part of which dates back to the era of the Cathedral when the Bishops of Moray ruled Moravia, and was used by them as a grain mill. The Moray Motor Museum houses a superb collection of veteran, vintage, classic cars and motorbikes. Most of which are on the button ready to go, added to this are the model cars and automobilia which make this a visit not be missed.
Loved our visit here! The cars and other memorabilia really are brilliant! Incredible stories and willingness to chat from staff when asking questions and expressing particular interests in some exhibits. Would have been 5 stars with more information available on cars and access to downstairs garage where the really interesting stuff is ;)

Sitting next to Elgin Cathedral this well maintained garden is a pleasure to walk around . The concept is good but spoiled by the statues that look like a kid has been let loose with playdough. They are in poor condition as well with bits falling off them . The religious references are quite good but we enjoyed it as a garden which is well maintained
