There are great views to be had from the top of this mountain. But it is a bit of a rip-off having songtaews transport you to the top - the road to the top is perfectly OK for any vehicle and the local village has taken advantage of the 'tourist dollar' and closed the road to permit only these songtaews to transport people to the top ...... only in Thailand lol ;-) The driver and vehicle wait for you and then take you back down to the village, so you can't really meander at your leisure up the top because there's a little bit of pressure to leave.

Probably the most famous after dark attraction of the town. Typical night market Thai style with plenty of street food (few good specifically local traits from nearby river are worth trying: tiny prawns and crabs), souvenir and clothing carts. Some nice coffee shops allow to take a rest and watch people passing by.

The market is nice to buy some local products. Nice restaurant. Nice walk along the Mekong. Not much to do otherwise....

Kang-Kud-Khu is a fresh stream and barrier between Thailand and Laos that we can take a boat across to Laos. The weather is very cool and is suitable for a couple on their honeymoon. Anyone who would like it to be there living from morning until sunset, which some people prefer to sit drinking.

I went there for 2D1N , Fly from BKK early morning of Sat.My friend pick up me from the airport and we were heading to see Mt.Fuji in Thailand ( The shape of the mountain look a like Mt.Fuji :P ). It took us around 1 hour due to Feb is not high season thus there are less people which is very good. To go up we need to park car and take the local truck , it cost around 100THB ( can't remember exactly ). The view up there is quite nice and windy ( recommend to go in the morning )
After that we are going to Chiang Khan district ( in Loei Province ) , this is the slow life small district located beside Khong River ( Opposite is Lao ) there are a lot of small hotel and the price is vary range. I stay in Poolsawat ( 900 THB per night with shower room ). Activities here are bike around the district , in the morning can offer a food to monk which is very nice and good feeling.
If you never been to Chiang Khan and like something quiet , slow life and sit back relax then Chiang Khan should be yr destination. It is similar to Luang Prabang but smaller
Enjoy

The temple was under renovation when I were there. They kept all Buddha statues in the temporary tents. The buildings in the temple were amzing with local style.
