Vancouver Island's Theatre Destination. We are a vibrant, established and fully professional theatre nestled in the seaside community of Chemainus, BC. We feature some of the finest performers and Performances in Canada, Vancouver, and Vancouver Island. Enjoy theatre to the fullest, with our terrific complements: The Playbill Dining Room, with live music and show-themed buffet; and The Gallery Gift Shop, featuring the art of BC artisans.
We had a fun evening at the Chemainus Theatre. The buffet dinner was delicious and the show was entertaining. Cornwall Christmas is a fun Christmas musical. The theatre is a nice size and everyone has a good view of the stage. The lobby and gift shop are worth checking out. They have a great collection of merchandise for sale.

We spent a couple hours in Chemainus as part of a Courtenay/Comox-to-Victoria travel day that also included the Duncan Totem Poles and Kinsol Trestle.
After a quick stop-in at the Chemainus Visitor Centre, we did the 90-minute self-guided tour of the 42 murals, 11 statues, and 6 other artistic displays. We saw most of the very nice well-kept town. The murals and staues are very visually appealing and interesting, well organized and laid-out, and the brochure is excellent. A bonus was buying a European Multigrain bread at Chemainus Bakery (Japanese-Canadian owned) and eating part of it as lunch in Waterwheel Park.

Before checking out Coast Bastion Hotel in Nanaimo I inquired about what attractions to stop and see before arriving in Victoria. Paul said that the town of Chemainus had a quaint Hansel and Gretel's Candy store that we had to see.
We followed the large yellow footprints painted on the sidewalk and found the shop. The grandchildren bought lots of gummy bears, but the thing I remember most is the popcorn popper. I asked the proprietor to start the machine so my granddaughter could buy a bag. I think it is the first time all the 4 grandchildren were so close to a working popcorn popper. That popcorn must have been very tasty and buttery.

We enjoyed the Wednesday Market when we were visiting in the area and discovered the Waterwheel Park in the process. What a lovely little park. The Info center is located just beside the park which also borders the waters edge.
There were several people enjoying the shade and picnicing while we were there.

I love this place. So many little sections in here to meander and wander around. Just seeing the history of many of the pieces is awesome and each little section is privately owned but managed by the shop. Always find something to catch my eye and to match one of my little collections be it China or jewellry or nick nacks. LOVE this place.

This is a little known secret in the golf world. A beautiful course in a quaint little town. Not one of your "posh" courses but wonderful golfing at a very affordable rate and a good if albeit basic restaurant. Our friends came for the day and were amazed to find this gem.

We happened into this store on our way north. We enjoyed the owner Barbara. She was very helpful and gave us a deal on two brackets. We also enjoyed meeting her two dogs that hang out with her in the shop. One a rescue with one eye. We hope to visit again later. If you are looking for a place to have dinner Barbara will be happy to help you find one in a number of cities.

We thought we had a problem with our hired car. They gave us directions to the nearest dealership and marked it on a free map. Turned out my husband sorted it by the time I got back to him. The staff were very efficient and...MoreThank you for your review. We were very happy to help!

A stop on highway from Nanaimo south to Duncan and Victoria. Great fresh produce, much local including first class berries. Icecreams for the children, snacks and a super deli. All this with friendly staff and a farm ambience. We regularly drive 12 kilometers from Duncan for our produce rather than always visiting local supermarkets. Prices are very competetive.
