The beach is located just west of Capesterre on Marie-Galante. We would consider it the best beach on the island. It is about one kilometer long with lots of coconut trees and is part of a lagoon protected by a coral reef. Beautiful sand and nice water. There is also 3 restaurants on the beach that are quite good.

Generally located in the center of Marie-Galante island, the Bellevue Distillery is worth a short visit. After a short drive in the country side, you will find the old and new mill, a old restored wind mill and a very nice store with various products and gifts and friendly staff. There is free rum tasting and all their rums and products are available for purchase. The rums themselves and rum products are quite good and worth a try.

This is my absolute favourite club in Marie-Galante! The underwater world here is still absolutely wild and intact (huge sponges, corals and animals not afraid to come and check on u from close:-) I simply love diving with Jean-Luc and Jean-Marc....and then listen to their stories! unbeatable experience, they are also very attentive with new divers or people who want to learn to dive, I do higly recommend them!

We visited le Moulin de Bézard as per information listed in my guidebook, which dated only to 2014, since this was one of the only restored windmills on the island. Unfortunately, it seems that the upkeep of the facilities has been lacking since my guidebook was printed, and thought the windmill is still in good shape, the rest of the area is in complete Shambles! The shops, ticket booth and washrooms are now all skeletons of their former selves, the walkway crumbling and broken. A fence had been erected to protect the site, but it, too, is now in pieces and falling over, basically allowing anyone free access to the grounds. But the windmill is still cool - you can even climb inside and check out the view of the rolling hills covered in sugar cane. Just be mindful of the fact that this is a defunct attraction, and some areas are a little unsafe, but have fun exploring!

the museum includes 5 iconic sites in the history of the island : habitation murat showing collections, habitation roussel-Trianon, the factories dorot and pirogue and the mare au punch site. 26 mills can also be visited. each of these sites allows you to discover the immense diversity of the heritage of Marie Galante.
Impressive ruins of a former slave plantation. largest on the island with 300 slaves. made rum out of sugar cane. Part of a UNESCO heritage site to document the history of slavery. Small museum inside the mansion about the history of Guadeloupe. It was interesting to read some of the information about the transition to freedoom from slavery in 1848. Very small exhibit.

Historic museum, art gallery and beach wear shop... A unique concept !
Really nice things for souvenirs. T shirts, local maps, beach bags, etc. I really like the beach towels made of soft cotton from Tunisia with a logo of Marie Galante. A little pricey at 30 Euros. but nice stuff, not your usual junk.

As you can see in the photo there is quite a lot of shade on this beach. Always welcome. The swimming is good, waves not usually high, and reasonable snorkeling especially on the right as you look out to sea, that is on theEastern end. Families tend to use the beach. The atmosphere is safe and friendly

The rum produced from sugar cane on Marie Galante is world famous. This distillery produces the Père Labat brand - the most popular brand of the island.
We arrived at the factory in mid-February which is outside the sugar cane harvesting season. Consequently the factory was not in operation but we were allowed in to check out the equipment.
Outside the factory you will find a sales and information booth where you can purchase the various products at a substantial discount from retail (€7 for a bottle of their 59 proof signature white rum). You are also welcome to sample the various brands but BE WARNED: while the most popular mixed drink in Guadeloupe is the ti' punch - similar to a daiquiri - the samples here are provided in the form which is the next most popular way to drink rum here - straight up with a water chaser.
Bottoms up!
