After receiving precise instructions from the natives as to where to find what they termed as the best lunch restaurant in town, we managed to drive about five kilometers north PAST La Datcha. We doubled back and found it exactly as described: right on the beach at La Feulliere - the longest beach on the island - just opposite the parking lot.
Arriving at noonish we quickly secured a table and with our feet caressing the sand perused the menu. Seeing as we were sitting by the sea fish seemed to be a good choice so The Daughter ordered a brochette while I went for the fresh catch of the day and The Teenager, after checking out the table next to us which was populated with ladies who lunch and their kids, went for the exotic burger with fries.
The single cook in the open kitchen went in to action while we whiled away the time watching the kite surfers put on a show right in front of us. Minutes later our meals arrived and were presented with aplomb by the barefoot waitress. The fish was excellent as according to all reports was the hamburger. Prices are reasonable.
Shortly after our arrival the hordes descended and the restaurant was full by 12:30, the owners pulling out extra tables to meet demand.
This is a quality beach front restaurant in an idyllic location.

Pomme Cannelle was close to where we were staying and we had high hopes for delicious, homemade Creole specialties as often the best food comes from simple places. The menu that night was limited to fish, ribs, or chicken; none of the specialties mentioned on web descriptions. We decided to stay anyway in hopes they would be outstanding and because the proprietress was friendly. The ribs were fine, but the grilled fish was completely dry. They were served with American-style french fries, lettuce, and tomato. The only really tasty items were the complimentary accra and the vin rose. Very disappointing, especially since it was our last night on Marie Galante.

Local sea food with Spanish set up (not only) because of the Spanish chef as we was informed by the operating personnel. The staff was very professional and helpful with guidance throuhg the menu (even in English ;-). The French Chardonnay suprisingly very good, although we should have started with a lighter option. Merci beaucoup!

This is a very good local restaurant with typical reasonably priced dishes. I opted for 'vivaneau en court bouillon' which was served with rice and stuffed 'christophine' (chayotte). The food was well-prepared and delicious, so was homemade coconut punch. I had some pineapple for dessert and a coffee to finish the meal, and the bill was just above 20 euro. The service was friendly and warm.

Already intrigued by this right-on-the-beach, feet-in-the-sand restaurant, we were enticed in by the invitation of the proprietor. Though we had plans that night, he assured us a fine meal if we returned the next, so we did. We were the only customers, so were invited to see our fish both "in the raw" and on the grill. Both the fish and the cabri (goat) Colombo were delicious, served with rice, green beans, carrots, eggplant, grilled plaintain, and a savory sauce. Complimentary accra were delivered to the table as well. Topped off with ti-punch and vin rose, it was a fun and flavorful experience.

The Accra starter was delicious, others has good lobster, duck and steak. I have had tastier octopus but served with potatoes and rice! Some salad or green veg would have been better. Fresh squeezed orange juice, refreshing.
Very hot when first arrived, but staff turned fans up which made it comfortable.
Cosy decor.

Nous avions été très mal reçus par la serveuse peu accessibles aux demandes de glaçons et autres demandes. Le déjeuner était très moyen.Dommage car l emplacement est bien.

La Table du Pere Labat is highly recommended, if you want value for the money along with great food, superb service and cosy atmosphere. We ordered langoustine flambé and maxi boef and were really surprised of the big portions served. Nevertheless, we finished both plates highly satisfied. This is a place well worth visiting. By the way, ask for the marmalade made of pineapple and rum. Tasted liked melted honey in your mouth :) Bon Apetite!
