The Tyrone Mills Limited -1846 has been owned and operated by Robert Shafer over the last 30 years - but its history stretches back far greater than that! Over the last 168 years, the Tyrone Mills has been a grist mill, flour mill, lumber mill, apple cider producer, historic tour center, bakery, and rural community center. Today, it continues to preserve its traditional roots through continual use of its water power in lumber manufacturing and flour production. Open year-round, the mill offers visitors a chance to witness Canadian History and Culture in action. Each season of the year adds to the unique character to the mill. Whether it is drinking hot apple cider to chase away the winter chill, Rob Shafer working steadfast in the lumber yard in the spring, visitors enjoying a scenic walk along the dam in the summer, or shoppers enjoying our baking and festivities in the fall. The mill not only offers a range of quality products, but also a sense of community connection. If you have not yet had the chance to come visit - please do! And, for those of you who have - we look forward to welcoming you again soon. The Shafer family.
This is a quaint spot to see the past. very little has been done to update the mill. It's old and rustic. They have put in a shop which sells Jars of jam, jellies etc. They sell cheese and a few specialty things. they also do fresh made donuts, the little ones rolled in sugar. Whats not to love about hot donuts! there is no Seating available and its tricky walking around as there is uneven flooring and its crowded. Caution is required if you decide to go upstairs. Cute place, don't forget to grab some donuts.

Visited the Water Park with my 2 kids on a very hot and extremely busy day in August. Pool was crowded, parking lot full of cars blasting music and bbqing, line up for the waterslide. Friendly staff. Everybody seemed to be having fun, but it was very busy and smaller than I'd imagined. Fun short visit, but next time we'll go to wonderland.

Archibald Orchards & Estate Winery is a 4th generation family farm located just east of Toronto. Their Fruit Winery offers complimentary sampling of wines ranging from very dry to sweet, ice types. Come the fall, the orchard with some 10,000 trees & 13 different varieties of apples is a great place for Pick Your Own apples. During this time, there is a free children's play area & on weekends fresh cut fries & caramel apple dumplings are available in the Apple Core Cafe. Something for everyone depending on the season!
We stopped in met Sandy the owner. Chatted about wine had a few tastings bought a couple bottles. It was a nice visit. We will definitely visit againGlad that you saw our sign & stopped in! Thanks also for the great review. If you're in the area on June 25th, pop in. We're celebrating our 20th Anniversary with the winery from 1 - 3 with wine, appetizers & music!

Manantler Craft Brewing Co. is a small batch craft brewery located in historic downtown Bowmanville Ontario. The only thing that tops our love for drinking craft beer is our passion for making it. We have brewery tours every Sunday by appointment.
Bowmanville was in serious need of a fresh venue. What's better than a fun, new spot to meet friends and check out local talent (art, music, & craft beer)? A brewery...with an open mic night on Thursdays! and the chillest atmosphere in town.
Could not be more satisfied with Manantler for finally bringing Bowmanville something different!

Sam is the one you book with and who executes the workshop. He clearly loves his work and is definitely a crowd-pleaser joking with everyone of all types and ages. The birds themselves are truly awesome and well trained. Suitable for all ages.
When you arrive, don't park in the parking lot by the building, as that is not the correct place (and they get kinda testy with the falconry attendants who do part there, as I learned). Pull up into the dirt path by the tree to the left of the building. Sam will be along with his truck full of birds shortly, if he's not there already.
Keep in mind that there are no washroom facilities. Also, the Darlington Provincial Park is just down the road if you want to make a day excursion out of your workshop.
What a wonderful workshop and fabulous falcon friends! Enjoy!

Went for a hike with a friend a couple of months ago. Didn't think it would take 3 hours to do a single loop, so there's going to be plenty of challenge for those who like to go for an extended walk. Paths are well blazed, and there are at least 3 loops to choose from. Geocaches in the area as well, so it was a double-treat. There is an honour-system payment for using the parking lot. Otherwise, if you can get there on foot, it's free (although it would be a long walk).

My husband and I snow shoed here in January and it really has some beautiful tree lined trails.
Although a short hike (maybe 3 kms) it is very scenic. The road to get into the conservation area is very steep, so be forewarned if it is icy and you don't have snow tires!

The park is ideally situated at the back of Bowmanville's main street. it is a delightful spot to sit and rest, read a book or take the steps down to walk along the Bowmanville Creek. Every Thursday in the summer, there is a wonderful concert , each one featuring a different band or group .People get up and dance, there is a fifty fifty draw and it is a delightful way to spend a summer evening. It is important to get there early as parking can be a challenge

Nestled in the heart of Bowmanville, a river runs through. Historically, each year many salmon would die working their way up from the lake through the river to spawn. Residents and a local conservation group fundraised and worked tirelessly to raise the money to help nature along by constructing a Fish Ladder at the Goodyear Dam. It is amazing to watch huge salmon make their way up the ladder, jumping in the fight of their life, to have their species continue. It is a beautiful, flat walk, along a paved path for most of the way through the park. You can stop at the Fish Ladder, or continue on to the Duck Pond, or watch the numerous fishermen try their luck. It is a fantastic feat of nature to watch. Be aware that many of the salmon still don't make the journey, so sometimes they wash up on the side of the river and die, making it a little fragrant. Spring and fall, you can watch this fantastic marvel occur, during the rest of the year, it is still a lovely (and accessible) place to walk. Dogs welcome, but only on leash.

I was driving by last week and noticed a sign outside offering a free movie showing at 7. I went in to see what this place was about. It is a small museum including items from WW2 and Camp 30 which held German prisoners captive. Also on display are sports items belonging to people who became famous and were from this area. You can also find a bunch of pianos as you walk in because right across the street was a piano builder (now there are condos there). You'll find loads of info on the heritage of the area, not only in Bowmanville but also Tyrone, Newtonville and Orono as well. The cost to get in is usually $2.00 but for some reason they have a sponsor at this time and it was free to get in! It's self-guided and takes about half an hour to complete.
