60 years ago, it was THE place to go for locals to enjoy seaside picnics before the existence of some other seaside retreats in Batu Pahat. It's actually a rocky seaside/beach near a fishing village though children enjoy swimming and playing in the water. On weekends you will find anglers fishing both during the day and night as well as family and friends enjoying barbecue especially at night. Now there are food stalls selling fresh catch of the day that open from morning till night. It's not a 5-star seaside but good enough for the locals and perhaps visitors for a short weekend "beachy" getaway.
Historically, the beach was founded and named when the Siamese sailed down southwards from Malacca to look for fresh water. They dug a well on the hard rock using chisel and not water but thick oil oozed from the ground. Thus, came the names "Pantai Minyak Beku" (Frozen Oil Beach) and Batu Pahat Town (Chisel Stone Town).
Another most interesting tale about Minyak Beku is that it was believed once that if you wish to hold a wedding feast you could come to the well and call upon the spirit of the well to lend you some cookery utensils such as pots, pans and plates. Unfortunately, some people never returned the utensils or they were in a broken state that the spirit of the well has stopped being kind to the locals anymore.

Very proud to be a Johorean that we have an attraction like this. The dragon is huge! The whole place is very nicely designed and done up. There are Chinese paintings inside the dragon - no photo taking allowed though. But if you're bringing small kids or elderly, need to be careful as some of the stairs doesn't have hand railings.

This is clearly an example of where an insignificant rural town also needs to have a shopping mall so it can boast "development".
The mall houses the obligatory fast-food restaurant chains. Looks like shops are selling items that were left over from the sales at KL malls 2 years ago.
On top floor many shop lots boarded up with notice that something exciting will open soon (haven´t seen anything happen in the 3 months I am in BP).
Maintenance seems an issue in the mall. Broken tiles, dirty walls, smelly toilets, leakage in ceiling on top floor. On the roof the concrete reinforcement bars are sticking out as if another floor will be added in better times.
There is absolutely no nice atmosphere here that makes shopping a nice experience.

This incredible park is a unique point worth visiting. The playground is created by an elderly man using recycled materials. His aim is to create a place for children to play and have fun. After spending years creating the park with his own hands, news spread and media has came to cover the park and story behind it.
The playground provides a variety of slides and rides which also allow adults to play! The maker is always taking care of the place, maintaining and building more rides. All the rides are free to play but if you're amazed by the incredible works done by him, there is a donation box to show your support.
There are lights at the park so you can go at night too, if you're not afraid of mosquitoes. Bring your own water. If you're lucky, you might be able to catch some arts market in some of the weekends too.

First Glow Park in Johor, Malaysia
Apart the awe of the glimmering lights, the glowpark is not happening at all. There's no activities other than selfie.Plus, there are toys sold at unreasonable price. A toys with sweets cost me about rm10.
Besides, the place is not safe for young children because the fences are not strong enough and too many foreign workers which make me feel uneasy and feels unsafe especially when I need to go to the toilet.

The full name of this place is Yong Peng Che Ann Khor Moral Lifting Society. The most prominent structure here is the 107m long dragon outside the temple. The dragon is vividly crafted and painted with bright colour and is indeed very majestic looking. We can walk through the dragon with many paintings displayed on China ancient filial piety story. There is a small nicely landscaped garden In front of the temple, but the bigger garden is at the back of the temple. The back garden is very nice with artificial lake and zig-zag bridge. We can take nice photos in these Gardens.

There isn't much advertised in Batu Pahat but some friends recommended an evening walk at Soga Perdana forest and we really enjoyed it. There is a path with steps leading up to the top of a moderately sized hill with a viewing platform at the top. You can see the surrounding town from the top. I really enjoyed the walk up through the jungle. Occasionally you can see monkeys.
A moderate level of fitness is required for this attraction asn so it may not be suitable for small children or elderly relatives. There are toilet facilities but you need to park on the street nearby. Enjoy!

Please note that this Wet World is very very basic. It’s not anything like Singapore’s Wild Wild Wet, Lost World of Tambun in Ipoh or the famous Sunway Lagoon in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur (KL). This is super super mini basic Wet World for families who just wanna have a splashy time together somewhere in JB and enjoy seafood thereafter.
Wet World Batu Pahat can really be improved and cleaned up often. I love the slides where we get to seat together holding hands and just crazily laughing and yelling some words together. It was awesome. The kids just made it awesome. The food here is a bit pricey. They say no food and drinks allowed. But if you need to bring in some food & drinks, you probably may if they do not check upon entering. But whatever you eat or brought, please please throw your litters away in the rubbish bin provided. Let’s keep our world clean and green.
We were here for almost a whole day on a weekend, from 11am to 5pm and there wasn’t much crowds. We definitely have the place to ourselves and truly had a great time as a family. Come here if you are in Batu Pahat or around Johor!
