Great pizzas, wine, desserts in a lovely setting surrounded by locals. The service wasn't very friendly despite the fact that we spoke local dialect. We waited a long time to order dessert and then to get our bill. On the way out the man behind the till shouted at us in German. Perhaps he hadn't realised that we'd already paid. Our waiter told us in dialect not to worry so we left but the encounter left a bad taste. I would think twice before returning because of this despite the great pizza.

I recommend this restaurant very highly. We went last week while visiting Gstaad. They offered a choice of seafood that had been caught earlier in the morning and flown in from France. As we live near the ocean in the US, we mostly avoided seafood while inland in Europe, but this was truly fresh! The amuse bouche

Beautiful Restaurant with absolutely excellent food. The Ambiance is great and Reservations for dinner are recomended.
The owner (Mr. Glatz), a great Chef and Artist (scissor cuts) organizes different Exhibitions troughout the year and the exhibits are shown in the restaurant and can often be purchased there as well.

A journey for the senses... A wide range of culinary delights from around the world are here for you to enjoy with a different selection to choose from every day. Our head chef and his team are here to pamper your palate with the most exquisite delicacies created from the very best ingredients and a great range of regional products, such as meat, milk, cheese, fruit and vegetables – organically farmed, of course.
High german is the main language here (hardly any Swiss staff) - the line between polite and arrogant behaviour is narrow.
The food is typically "gourmet" - means small individual portions, high very high prices for very little complicated food on your plate. They feature basically 3 pages of food items and, estimated, 30 pages of wines to go with it ...

About 1 year ago, I guess, a new team has taken over the Baeren. Great smile when you walk in, reasonable prices and a kitchen knowing their stuff.
We have been four people to go there (without any reservation) - despite everything, they found quickly a table for us.
Menue has a nice variety and everyone found something. Waitresse made us feel at home, so we were almost sad to leave.
Great stop when you are in the area.

I went here with my family to have lunch on the Swiss National Day, 1st. August. It was a convivial atmosphere and there was an accordion band, an alp horn player and a silver band providing entertainment.
The restaurant is a wooden chalet with spectacular views of the Simmental, and has Seating indoors and outdoors. It is a good place to stop if you are a cyclist or hiker coming up from the valley floor, but is also fine if you just want to drive up in your car. The access road is single track, but tarmac and with passing places.
The food is typically Swiss - local sausages, veal or pork cutlets, Wiener schnitzel, rösti, chips etc. and with lots of vegetable garnishes, including half a peach or pear with whipped cream!
The service is friendly, and the chef came out to shake hands with everybody at the end of the service. The toilets are clean and modern and there is a baby changing table.
Main courses cost about CHF 18-25, which is average for the region, and the portions are generous.

Located at Middle Station on the lift to Rinderberg from Zweisimmen, this is a newly-renovated hotel and restaurant for skiers and non-skiers. We had lunch on two successive Fridays while our grandchildren skied with their school. The first Friday was a blowing, blinding, centimeter-an-hour snow storm, we were glad just to get in from the weather, then delighted to find tasty, well-presented, and generous lunches. The second Friday, a clear day, we returned with high expectations and were not disappointed. Superb views, good selection of wine and beer, and in Sunshine the deck is warm enough to watch the skiers over coffee or lunch. Staff need a little work on getting orders right -- not all are fluent in German. Downstairs in the Lodge is a comfortable lounge for hotel guests.

There is some confusion with the two hotels. One hotel is in Saanenmoeser and one is on top of the Hornberg called Berghotel. The first one is a brilliant hotel cum restaurant with lovely food and great service.Views are to die for.The second is an average hotel with average food and not worth the visit unless you are hiking in the region.
