We came across the roadhouse while enroute from Cairns to the nearby Crater Lakes on the Atherton Tablelands. The staff were extremely friendly, the food looked delicious. We ordered some hot chocolates & savoury scones which were absolutely scrumptious. The service was very fast. Would definitely recommend a stop. Superb.

Established 2002. We are a small restaurant serving quality fresh food made from local produce. We cook French /Italian cuisine. Family friendly. Children's meals are available. Fully licensed, we serve quality wines, beers and spirits. Wheelchair accessible.
Hubby and I decided to have lunch here as they are a dog friendly restaurant and we had our small Chihuahua travelling with us. The waitress was lovely, she seated us outside and promptly got our pooch a bowl of water. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The waitress checked on us often to make sure everything was perfect. The beef goulash was so tender and my meat crazy hubby was impressed with the vegie lasagne. It was a fantastic experience, we will definitely be back next time we visit Yungaburra!

Operated by the 3rd and 4th generations of the Curry family, the Tea House at Lake Barrine has been offering delicious breakfasts, lunches, and cafe drinks, boat tours, and a beautiful view of the Crater Lakes National Park tropical rainforest since the 1920s. An excellent stop off on a visit to the Tablelands, or even a destination in itself, we would love it if you stopped by!
This rustic 80-year-old tea house features tropical Gardens and a stunning location overlooking Lake Barrine, a rainwater-filled volcanic crater. Four of us stopped here for a break while driving around the Tablelands in Queensland. We descended a path from the large parking lot and found few people inside. At 11 a.m., the large interior dining room with lots of tables and chairs was totally empty, but there were some tables occupied on the veranda. We chose an empty table there and ordered at a counter inside.
As my husband and I waited for our Devonshire Tea to arrive, we enjoyed the view of the blue lake and its thick rain-forest border with our friends. Not even a ripple appeared on the water. The coffee drinks that our friends ordered came quickly along with our scones, raspberry plum jam and whipped cream. But there was no tea. After about five minutes, my husband went to the counter. There he learned that tea doesn't come with Devonshire Tea here. That has to be ordered separately. We've lived short-term in many parts of Australia over the years and never encountered that distinction before. So for those wanting Devonshire Tea, be sure to specifically request tea if that is what you want to drink and be prepared to pay extra. The tea proved to be good but the scones were decidedly average with a doughy consistency.
I would recommend a stop here mostly for the view or perhaps to take a lake cruise that departs near the tea house.

Went there with friends and we chosed a table outside next to the footpath
We already had our drinks and were waiting for food.
two young guys took seats on the table next to us and started smoking, one after the other....
We asked them to go to the smoking area but they just told us to go away if we don't like it.
they completely ignored us.
When our food came I asked the girl... I believe this is not the smoking area.
She said, I don't know !!!!
She doesn't know ????What kind of service is that????
I had to point out to her the smoking area is over there....
So she just mentioned it briefly to these trouble makers to move to the smoking area.
Of course they didn't do it....and she didn't care at all....
Our friend who is a smoker as well got up after lunch onto the footpath and had a smoke.
The other staff member came out, cleared the table and told our friend off not to smoke on the footpath ???? !!!!!!
We were speechless.
Its a public place !!!!! It was far away from all the tables, because he has manners.
Very very bad Customer service and we are Cairns people, not Tourists....

We ordered take-a-way pizzas and went to the platypus viewing area (200m away) whilst we waited. Didn't see any platypus but it was a wonderful way to spend the time waiting with a beautiful sunset to enjoy.

Traditional Fish & Chip Shop Menu. We have made our name serving delicious food with a large menu to please everyone!
Great service from very friendly staff. Servings were plenty. Only reason I didnt give 5 stars was the calamari was processed and the battered fish a bit well done. Had curry on Friday night and whilst a little $$$ was smashing.
Would def get take away from here again

Step back in time, relax retro style with a cuppa and a cake. That retro cafe is a coffee lounge, a micro business run by the owner. Child friendly cafe where parents can sit and sip while children can play... Our menu is small but delicious, food made from scratch for you with delicious vegetarian options. If what;s on the menu doesn't fit your dietary needs let me know and I will endeavor to make you something to fit your needs.
Stopped in for a snack and were amazed by the variety and quality of the food. The real capper, though, was the large iced coffee. Filled with ice cream. An excellent variety of food that includes a lot of vegetarian options. Yungaburra is worth the visit.
