Used to be fantastic but because of security issues it was closed down in 2011. It used to cover several streets and the abundant food laid out along the sidewalks. The clothes and knick-knacks stretched for a couple of hundred meters in every direction...but sadly it is no more:(

A place for tourists that want a upscale place to dine with live music and dance. Local Chinese dines and entertains here too. Food is good, we had a simple salad with orange dressing which was full of flavours as most crops harvested in Xinjiang are just so divine! Our noodles with mutton and vegetables was al dente and delicious. The mutton dumplings were the best, must order dish! The beef pizza and jewelled rice cooked with mutton were also good. A bit disappointing were the barbequed items : shish kebabs * a bit tough and pigeon - overcooked. We went early before most guests arrived for dinner but were ignored by the service staff and had to request for service repeatedly. Perhaps it was the only staff that had attitude problem, others came and serve happily. We thanked and said goodbye to the grumpy staff but she totally ignored us! Perhaps she didn't like my Singaporean Chinese look due to the existing tension. This place stands out among other establishments as it is richly decorated, bringing out the ethnic flavours of Xinjiang. Its all staffed by the local Uighurs, beautiful and proud people!

Incredible food (well, there is no bad food in China), wonderful service, great atmosphere. We had a private room, which comes with it's own restroom (which is highly convenient), and a little kitchen for the staff. I can't tell you what we had, but it was ALL outstanding!

Industrial scale tourism. Marathon starter gun for the shasliks. Go with an experienced diner, since there is no handicapping for foreigners. Though we do get to sit in the front so we can be pulled onstage for the dancing.
The show is fun and the beers are cold.

This is our 3rd time to Urumqi and when tired of the local foods, we really enjoy Rendezvous. Good variety and good quality and terrific cakes.

This cafe is not far away from the Grand Bazzar and, if you have sufficient time (2 hours), this local restaurant is a good choice. The service and local food provided are of high quality. Please note that neither pork nor alcoholic drink are available in local restaurants in Urimqi.
