We were here in winter when the nights are dark and the restaurant pretty featureless without a view. But we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food which is fantastic.
However, this was let down severely by lacklustre service which was slow and unattentive. We were particularly annoyed when hot food was served before cold, with a long wait between food arriving, meaning we all ate cold food whether we wanted to or not.
At these prices, the ambience and the service would make me avoid here again.

We had dinner, not for the first time or the last. Soup and then sea bass. Wine and a Gin and Tonic to finish. Food and service was excellent.

Dowhill was opened in 2001 as a farm diversification destination. The family run business includes; A farm shop which is stocked full of home grown vegetables & locally sourced goods, A farmhouse Restaurant which features daily specials and hearty home cooked meals. The business has undergone a major refurbishment in 2017 bringing it's unrivalled views to the fore and introducing a new range of gift ware and clothing into the farm shop.

Serving quality food from 12.00 Noon till 9pm daily. Where possible we use locally sourced fresh produce. Early Bird Menu, Daily Specials Board, Lunch & Evening Menus.
Out and about for a Sunday run to blow away the cobwebs and arrived at the Kirkmichael Arms. A friend had recommended the food and we were not disappointed. The waiter was very good taking all the notes of my various dietary requirements (big list !) and the Chef was very accommodating. We both enjoyed our meals and would highly recommend a trip to The Kirkmichael Arms. There is also a beautiful gift shop attached to the restaurant ...... any excuse to go back !

We stayed overnight at the Woodland Bay hotel and found the whole experience very enjoyable. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The customer service was faultless and the food in the restaurant was delicious. There are some very nice vegetarian choices on offer.
We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Fish & Chip restaurant looking out over the harbour while you eat. Traditional fish and chip dishes are served such as fish, sausages, chicken, haggis and deep fried pizza. However, we also serve our exclusive 'BLAGGIS' which is both haggis and black pudding battered together and another popular dish is our sweet chilli haggis. In our restaurant we also serve a small selection of salads, macaroni, chicken curry, lasagne and also hot and cold drinks. We also have the option to take away which is around the corner.
Popped into here as really fancied a chippy after visiting culzean castle and this place rated highly on TripAdvisor. Went in and place seemed bit of a clutter however after speaking to a waitress it appeared they had an unexpected rush of customers. All tables...MoreThank you very much. I appreciate my staff are very good, hard working and friendly but it's nice to know some of my customers do as well.

A number of people have given us good reviews of this tearoom/restaurant so we eventually decided to give it a try. Inside is more like a tearoom than a restaurants although it has to be said that judging by the number of people inside it appears popular.
Food is very plain cooking but plenty of it. Just not our "cup of tea" if you pardon the pun.

We visited on a Sunday evening when there is a longer period to have high tea (normally 5-6:30 pm).
High tea is a long-standing Scottish tradition that is unfortunately dying out. It consists of a main course accompanied by tea (or coffee), toast and cakes. Usually diners also have an an alcoholic drink such as a beer or wine.
We had scampi, and chicken breast with black pudding. Everyone was delighted with their meals and the house Merlot was very drinkable.
Good value and the service was basically good although slow at the start.
Thoroughly recommended especially if you have not tried high tea before.

We had a lovely, luxurious and lazy Sunday afternoon tea in The Grand Tea Lounge at the Trump Turnberry Resort today.
The food itself was delicious. Perfect scones, with the right amount of cream and jam; lovely, little, light sponge cakes; pastries; savoury and sweet - - we couldn’t fault anything we had and very nearly finished it all (not quite - food coma!).
There were a fair selection of teas on offer but I just wanted a cup of English, I opted for the Turnberry version which was nice.
The staff we interacted with were all lovely, from the gentleman on the door who directed us, to the ladies who waited and served our table, all were pleasant and efficient without being overly so. The view from our window table was amazing.
The atmosphere was just ever so slightly too formal for me, but I am perhaps being pernickety and it’s a really small small observation for what was a great way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon for a few hours.
