Staid there 4 weeks during a military assignment. The rooms are basic, but clean, some come with small bathrooms, but all in all definitely ok for the price.
As for the restaurant, we staid with full board and not even once we felt like we needed to go eating elsewhere for a change.
It's traditional simple Swiss fare, but the way it is prepared, you really see the passion they put in it. Last but not least, special thanks to Andrea and Paula and the entire service crew! I simply would give this place 6 stars.

We have been today at Amrein's. We arrived at around 1pm, there is no problem for eating. There are 5-6 dishes for daily menues. We choosed salad, soup for starter, lamb with potatoes and roasted pork with risotto for main dishes and one dessert for both. The meal was again excellent, the service attentive and reasonable bill (75 francs) for both.
Amrein's is an excellent address in Sursee

We are staying at this hotel and went to the restaurant our first night here. The staff provided us with a menu in English (sadly we don't understand very much German). The menu had a lot of options and the portion sizes were bigger than expected. The food was delicious and reasonably priced (dinner for 2 with 2 entrees and a starter soup but no wine was about 70 Swiss francs). Very convenient to eat here if staying in the hotel and worth a trip to out to the restaurant if you aren't.

Chose this on a Monday because everywhere else was closed or were bars. Good find because the ambience, food and beer were typically Swiss with plenty of classic dishes and a few nice twists, like the Zander fillet and Fitness salad. Recommended for dinner,

If you are luck and the weather is nice, you can spend a pleasant summer evening here, as we did recently. The food is, well, Mexican as it is understood in Europe. Staff is very friendly, prices ok.

A bit more up market than than all the other restaurants I visited for lunch, but this was for an evening meal. There were families, couples and us a business dinner, all suited this place fine.
We were there when it was dark, but we could still see the small town on the other side of the lake all lit up. The décor was of a nice quality hotel/restaurant and the food served was great, typical Delia Smith style food in my opinion. They had a good few local fish dishes, local in the fact the fishes came from the lake.
The service was carried out by two men who were both polite & helpful.
Would I return = Yes, providing someone else was paying.

Good food, very friendly service with wide choice of meat cuts, fish and the traditional pizza and pasta offerings made fresh to order. Large outdoor courtyard area for eating in good weather as well as 1 cosy restaurant and a more formal one. Reasonably priced for Switzerland

We enjoyed a lovely Thai meal in this restaurant during our visit to Nottwil for the Para-Cycling World Championships. We struggled a little with the German/Swiss menu and being a party of Blind/visually impaired didn't help however the staff were patient and friendly. We ordered various dishes including Gang Gai Sai, Gai Pad Med and the Thai menu for two. The food was all lovely and there was plenty of it. Overall Switzerland is more expensive for eating out than the UK so this meal for 5 including drinks was around £45 each. Not exactly a cheap meal but I didn't feel we overpaid for what we got. The restaurant is in direct competition with the Mexican El Mosquito across the street where we ate the night before (separate review). On balance I would choose Malou despite being more expensive for those delicious Thai flavours. Thanks to all the staff who helped make our visit enjoyable.

Sometimes in times of trouble you find a place to eat that lifts your mood.
In June of 2016 , what do I do , I fall down the stairs and break my neck.
So when I find a resturant that is perfect in most ways I have to purr.
We arrived to discover a table that was OK but not right. I want to be normal I don't want to be disabled and sit near the door and toilet I want to be part of an intense experience.
Here the Golden Wagen staff and the chef made it happen. A great bacon and mushroom nut salad followed by the best fillet steak I've tasted , 300 grammes of pure perfection.
No desert room but great wine selection.
We sat in the restaurant but when there is not a wedding the attached winter garden would be perfect.

With my friends we went to this restaurant. Really close to the center,They had a good menu and excellent prices! Service is fast, all is clean and food really tasty! Meet was perfectly cooked and we liked very much the dessert with 3different types of sweets: cheese cake, choco cake and ice cream!deliziosi!
