Looking out over the city of St. John's, you may be reminded of a mini San Francisco (minus the cable cars). St. John's provides the ideal balance between nature and nightlife, from the East Coast Trail and its stunning scenery to the colorful entertainment district along George Street. Although it's the largest city in Newfoundland, the vibe is still very small-town. You'll feel welcome in the City of Legends!

I really like this place. The service is always perfect. The layout is good - you are not too close to your neighbours. They start with homemade bread with oil and vinegar. The house wines are good and reasonably priced. I don't think I've ever...MoreThank you for your review. Glad to have you as a friend of the restaurant. Come back soon!

Intimate restaurant in the heart of downtown St. John's, Newfoundland. Operating for over 17 years,Oliver's is a favourite for great seafood, steaks, fresh pastas and mouthwatering housemade desserts. Featuring intimate booths, warm colours and a fantastic wine list. Serving lunch and dinner weekdays and brunch and dinner on weekends.
First time eating here and the food was fabulous. I ordered the Balsamic Chicken Fettuccini and it was delicious! My husband ordered pan-fried cod and it was fresh and cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend this place and plan to go back again and again.

Went here with some friends for dinner and boy was I impressed! All the food was absolutely delicious. The service was fantastic (I'm sorry I can't remember our servers name to give him credit!). And the atmosphere was perfect. I will definitely return for another meal next time I'm in town.

Our local guide says this place has the best fish and chips. It wasn't meal time for us, so we just stopped in for a pint. Up a side ally - not on the main drag. Mostly local folks.

We stopped by The Rooms Café for afternoon tea before we headed over to the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist across the street. We went straight up to the top floor to the Café and didn’t visit the exhibits on the other floors, but from what we could see, the building looked very modern, grand and attractive in its design. It was very spacious and art-gallery looking. The Café was packed in the afternoon with patrons enjoying a late lunch or afternoon snacks. We ordered Corned Beef Hash Cakes and two desserts. They were all delicious. The main purpose of our visit was for the view, which did not disappoint us. The balcony outside the Café offered a great view of downtown St. John’s, the harbour, the Battery and Signal Hill. There’s entrance fee for visiting the exhibits, but no fee for going up to the Café floor.

We arrived here at a time when it was nearly full. However they quickly combined 2 tables for the 3 of us. Given the number in the Cafe we had our orders taken and served within 10-15 minutes. A friendly and efficient staff. We ordered 3 separate dishes with a choice of salads option -- cf my pic of the menu. The consensus of all 3 of us on our dishes was "Yummy". I particularly enjoyed my Goat Cheese Frittata etcetera The salad I believe came from an organic farm not to far from our own personal vegetable garden. Fresh and exceptional sauce. Overall a $55.00 bill which include the ubiquitous gratitude. Please note the Cafe aside from its primary role for you served those in need of assistance re the Service Industry. An overall enjoyable hour!

AUTHENTIC NEAPOLITAN WOOD-FIRED PIZZA | VPN-CERTIFIED

Piatto is a gathering place centred around a passion for fine food, fabulous wines, friends and family. Check out the little gems we've come across—diverse wines from across the globe, authentic Neapolitan wood-fired pizza, coffee and fabulous desserts—all in a casual atmosphere and with reasonable prices.

In our world, authenticity is big. Our pizzaiolo use ingredients and procedures regulated by the Italian governing association (VPN)—so you experience a "true" pizza like you would find in the energetic pizzerias in Naples, Italy (but without the airfare).
A long standing tradition in St. John's is that Piatto doesn't take Reservations. According to the well groomed man at the downtown location, they started December 22nd. Was told it could be 30 or 45 minutes for a table Friday night, December 22nd. Went next to the Republic and waited, another great St. John's tradition. After an hour we went back and were rudely told by the same well groomed man it would be another 30 minutes - let's turn away the walk-in traffic that has made the business what it is today. An hour and forty-five minutes later we got the text telling us our table was ready. Don't worry we took our local pizza business to Olio.

Wow. Raymond's is just fantastic. Service is just perfect. The atmosphere in the dining room is absolutely gorgeous - down to the lighting, the volume, the wallpaper...everything. We got the three-course meal with a cheese board to start. Everything was fantastic but the highlights were definitely the beef tenderloin and the potato-stuffed pasta in a lamb ragu. If I had one complaint (and it really wasn't that bad), it's that the desserts were just okay. Carrot cake with homemade cottage cheese was missing something to cut through the heavy, flat flavours and the plum dessert with sorbet was one-note.
However, I would come back for sure. It was a 5-star experience!

Casual and comfortable dining, fresh seafood and happy hour tapas in the heart of downtown St.John's, Newfoundland.
This place is an absolute gem. A cozy, intimate restaurant that offers an amazing array of seafood dishes. On my visit I had calamari (just order it) and the cod, which were both cooked to absolute perfection, and fresh fresh fresh! My dinner date had the shrimp appetizer and the salmon, also cooked superbly and with just the right balance of flavors. The portions are on the large size as well, offering a great value for your money. The service is outstanding, with friendly, knowledgeable staff who were well versed in wine pairings as well (their wine list offers a lot of variety for every price point). I recommend this spot for anyone looking for a fresh, delectable meal. Guaranteed to impress and satisfy. Thank you, Saltwater!
