Went for my fiancée birthday and were made to feel very welcome from the minute we stepped through the door. The food matched the level of service and was of high quality and quantity. The owner surprised all of us by singing happy birthday in Italian with a candle in the tiramisu! This is how a restaurant should treat a customer, we will obviously be back!

The King Henry VIII is a truly historic English pub, from its dramatic Tudor chimney stacks to its oak beams, open fires and panelled bars, all restored using traditional Tudor craftsmanship. The current building dates from 1647 but a pub has occupied the site since 1597.Opposite the entrance to Hever Castle, where Anne Boleyn spent her early years, this half-timbered and peg-tiled pub is a real gem. In summer the beautiful beer garden and pond make visits especially memorable and the roaring fires and polished wood panelling make it a welcoming and cosy place for colder months.Customers can expect excellent food in generous portions and a wide range of ales, beers & wines.
I was forced to be diplomatic as I was with my mother however the service was dreadful. The waitress with the black hair scorned at me just because I did not like ploughman's pickle. It was too much trouble for them to serve. Another waitress tutted- I felt like a piece of rubbish. If I had been here alone I would have been honest with my disappointment and upset. A restaurant should cater for different needs. We were not asked if everything was ok but everyone else was. The potatoes were decorated with parsley not mint. The salad was miniature as I did not have chips so I was promised a large salad- I did not receive this.
I would say that the elder lady was lovely with the drinks and very pleasant- the only redeeming feature of this restaurant.

We went with friends on Sunday night as the pub was running a quiz for cancer charities as part of the World's Biggest Pub Quiz. As well as the quiz they were serving pizzas which we ordered and they were excellent. Veggie pizzas for the ladies and spicy meat feast for the gents - all well cooked with lovely thin bases so you could taste the topping. The quiz was very well run and the landlord, Andy, did a few bonus rounds playing daft Play Your Cards Right games with prizes such as a free round of drinks for your quiz team or pizzas for the whole table. Overall it was a fantastic night, well supported by regulars and visitors alike. Well done to all the staff at The Brickies for such a great night and for supporting a great cause

Dear Ralph and Carol...
Thank you for yet another stunning meal today. Quality counts and the rib of beef cut like butter. The vegetarian roast Wellington looked and tasted beautiful.

After having the Christmas Winter Wonderland afternoon tea which was truly lovely and having many superb lunches, my daughter, myself and grandson booked to have the Mothers Day afternoon tea. We totally enjoyed everything about it, from the very pretty décor, to the lovely fresh prepared food. The staff are a real credit to this restaurant, really helpful and always smiling, nothing is too much. Thank you for meeting our fussy needs, we asked for no cakes but extra sandwich's as we do not have a sweet teeth. Looking forward to our next visit.

Went for lunch with a friend. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and tasty food. Don't think you could have got a smaller piece of chicken, very few potatoes and at £13.50 well overpriced. My friends beef stew was also tasty and a decent portion. Will try again but won't be ordering the chicken.

I have been going here for over three years on and off and you expect each time to be disappointed, which often happens. Sunday lunch today was as good as always and the chilli prawn starter delicious. You come back to places because you like the atmosphere and the food and the service. Today all were in tandem ... again.

A treasure indeed, a real ''find'' !!!
Service second to none, food super, with a well thought out selection of delights, from a menu that offers something for everyone.
A lovely atmosphere, is enhanced by an eclectic, entertaining decor, that features all sorts of wonderful surprises - from copies of masterpieces painted by Tamara Łempicka, thru to a portrait of Johnny Rotten (Sex Pistols front man) !!!
Faultless fayre, with a warm welcome = Wonderful !!!
Thank you Darren, your staff, venue, tip top kitchen, art adorned walls, easy on the ear music, all combined to make our families Birthday event, a tip top triumph !!!

We visited for lunch and ordered the moules and chips, they were the best moules I have had in the UK. The white wine and cream sauce was beautifully flavoured, the garlic mayo served with the chips was divine. The portions were huge.
A great range of soft drinks too, rather than the standard such as Rose Lemonade and elderflower.
I wished we lived nearer so we could make this our local.
