Came to try the restaurant as it was mentioned to be the best Italian restaurant in town if we talk Sanya downtown.
I have to admit the service and owner were kind but the food, living in Italy for a while, was not even close to where it should be. Menu is very simple, pizza is way too thick and not crispy and just lots of cheese. Maybe the Chinese market likes that but I missed the Italian flavor.
The starters and appetizers just very average. Shrimp cocktail (not Italian btw.) was just ok, the salad was just ok... overall my expectations were definitely not met. I would choose to pay a it more and go to a hotel Italian restaurant like Sofia for a more real flavor.
Maybe suggestion to go back to the Italian basics and be authentic and less market flavor driven? Not sure but that is just me...

Our signature restaurant is a unique al fresco seafood grill with a beachfront setting. Located near the coral beach, Fresh is unlike any other seafood restaurant in Sanya. Completely al fresco, Fresh’s unique wood-and-coconut fired grill brings together the best cooking traditions of Southeast Asia and Europe. Its menu features both Asian and French Provençal entries and includes Freshwater and saltwater seafood as well as shellfish, and a selection of premium meats and fresh poultry.
The 'Fresh' restaurant is located right on the beach, so it is the perfect place for a romantic dinner. Most attentive staff also help to make dinner here a unique experience. The menu is short, but offers something for every taste. There is just one 'but': The food is good, but not as outstanding, as the price-tag might suggest. It could be done better and more creative - as you can see e. g. in other Mandarin Oriental locations.

We spent a fair bit of time at this bar on a recent trip. Its as close to a western style sports bar as you will get in this part of China. The staff were excellent and the manager [cee cee ?] made us feel very welcome. The drinks weren't overly cheap and they actually served CIDER [albeit sth african} which is rare in China. The food was really good and we all enjoyed the steaks in particular.....There are plenty of screens showing various sports and a band most nights. The smoking always annoys me in bars in China and the sooner they ban it indoors, the better. This bar is small and i know some of my friends left early due to the smoke haze .....Overall , a good bar for a drink and feed.....Tony.A

Without a doubt Baan Rim Nam offers the most authentic Thai restaurant dining experience in Sanya.Wonderful food and excellent service provided by the dining staff. Super friendly and attentive. Also, it is nice to see how this Hotel group (Anantara) have managed to maintain the standards over the years. This is a well maintained and managed hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and recommend the restaurant and the hotel highly.

Certainly Sanya's best restaurant. Sofia offers authentic Italian cuisine in an amazing atmosphere with highly skilled, competent and outstanding friendly staff. We had caprese salad with superfresh Italian buffalo mozzarella, homemade pesto, tasty tomatoes and crispy rucola, very tasty and nicely decorated seafood linguini, best pizza ever and panna cotta, the restaurant's famous dessert paired with Limoncello.
The chef is from Sardinia, you can tell he cooks like a god. The Terrace offers al fresco dining in beautiful Hainan. Simply the best, grazie Sofia, ritorneremmo!

Forget atmosphere, decor and table setting, this is local experience and comes full on. The food was delicious and the staff was as helpful as can be given the language limitations. I particularly enjoyed the wooden clothes pins used as food markers; difficult to explain but you will understand if you go. Sea urchins were a unique personal moment; given that I once stepped into a bed of them. Eating one was much easier than extraction. would recommend for lunch; the lighting was harsh at night.

My mother and I went to Sand for dinner. The staff was incredibly friendly and extremely attentive - especially Freddie the restaurant manager.
The steaks are on point - cooked to perfection with side dishes to die for. I can definitely recommend mashed potatoes, cream spinach, and roasted vegetables.
The atmosphere is calm with live music and dimmed lights. With the option of eating outside and inside.
You won't regret going to Sand for a meal!

We've just visited this "place to have a meal".resolution:
1. Family business
2. Too small for this area. Long queue to have a table. You can take meal away.
3. Fresh food. Close to this place market #1 is located.
4. Price average or above average
5. You have possibility buy products at the market ( lobster, fish, prawns, etc) and they will cook it
6. If you need local exotic where Chinese have a meal - it's right place
7. Only Chinese language. Be prepared.
8. Menu with pictures.

Goji Kitchen is a warm, sophisticated all-day dining destination with a contemporary reclaimed aesthetic goji kitchen serves the best authentic, locally relevant food offerings combined with locally inspired juices and cocktails.
Trying the Goji kitchen was a great experience. The staff is friendly and attentive and the breakfast spread is big. Mixing local and international dishes.
Also the Hainan specials on the menu taste great and authentic. A nice outside deck to have your coffee in the sun and a reasonable pricing too.
