New owner, new cook, new menu.
The restaurant was more than half full on a Tuesday evening mid November, a very pleasant surprise. We spent time chatting with the new owner and the staff and had a great evening.
We definitively recommend the place. Likely will require booking well in advance in the summer months!

We had dinner in this restaurant shortly after we arrived in La Cotiniere. Attracted by the cosy atmosphere and nice location in the port we installed ourselves at a table on the terrasse and ordered mussels with french fries (15 Euro, local beer included). I never ate such small mussels. A third of them were dried out and hence not eatable. The rest had some taste but could hardly still our hunger.A couple of days later we ate mussels at La Pigouille, another restaurant close to the port for 10 Euro and they were twice as big and tasted much better. Maybe other dishes at L'Assiette du Capitaine are tasty but this food was really a shame.

I enjoyed the good range menu with pleasant ambiance & attentive service .A large part of the Seating is over the busy ( for St Pierre) road but I didn't find this an intrusion . Strong emphasis on seafood ,as usual on the island .wearing a peaked hat may be useful when the setting sun catches the eyes of a diner due to the situation in the road

Busy brasserie which is clearly liked and good for families. My wife's Caesar salad was unlike any Caesar we've seen, and topped with a fried egg. It was quite tasty nonetheless but definitely not a Caesar salad! Mine was a mixture of fish - adequate but overcooked and missing the promised salmon. We cancelled the wine in the end as after three requests it still hadn't arrived and we'd finished our meal. A bit slapdash - bread and water dropped on floor by waitress - but quite jolly. No one seemed very concerned about getting it right - and even paying was hard as the barman was more interested in chatting than serving.

Label Restaurant de Qualite depuis 2014 decerne par le College Culinaire de France
Sunday lunch in St. Pierre d'Oleron in winter. Few people about and few restaurants open. We chose Le vin sur 20 after seeing reviews on Tripadvisor. Simple, unpretentious decor, and an unpretentious menu. Starter, main and dessert for € 27, or € 22 if you just want two dishes. Obviously, everything is made on the premises. The Lotte medaillons were perfect. We chose a Chablis and were not disappointed.
The young waitress was very attentive and we enjoyed our Sunday lunch in St. Pierre tremendously.

We ate there on two occasions during our holiday. Food was fairly average, as was the service, but nothing to stop me going back again. Really enjoyed the fish stew, once I'd discarded the shellfish ( a personal dislike) but disappointed in the cafe gourmand once it had arrived. Prices not bad, and well supported both nights we were there. Although we didn't have one, the pizzas seemed very popular.
Will probably return next year.

grill (meat and fish) - pizzeria - hot potatoes - fresh fish from La Cotinière home made cooking large and lovely Terrace
Great staff and great food. This is a slick and well run restaurant. We had smoked salmon starters and a pizza. Very happy with our choice.
These guys looked like they were enjoying themselves and it showed. We visited out of season but reckon it could get a bit busy in peak periods.

Stopped there on a whim on our way to somewhere else! We were very pleased with the €13.90 set menu which was excellent value. The roast mackerel was very tasty and included in the price was a small carafe of wine! Definitively worth stopping!

Haven't had takeaway fish this good since Rick Stein's Cornwall. Chips, unfortunately, made with new potatoes.

Excellent ice cream parlour overlooking the harbour. A menu of ice cream cocktails featuring flavours such as Mars bar and After 8 chocolate . Very popular . And delicious .
