Rather of the beaten track near the Cathedral, Les Filets Bleu is very popular with local residents. Beautifully presented food that tastes delicious. Not cheap but definitely one up on the tourist restaurants on the sea front and well worth the price. Are sure you book, not open on Sunday pm or Mondays.

A beautiful warm evening, so what could be better than a meal at a beach restaurant. This Restaurant, La Cazuela, transforms each evening from a beach budget restaurant to a sophisticated eaterie with a great atmosphere. With outside Seating on several levels and plenty of inside tables if the weather proves inclement, it caters for all eventualities.
Fish is the speciality of course, and La Cazuela offers a good choice. Following a shared starter of juicy marinated, barbequed prawns, I opted for the Filet de Maigre, pictured above, served with a mash of sweet potato and roasted vegetables. My wife opted for the home made burger, served in toasted brioche bread, which she found delicious. That said, her first two choices from the menu, the Magret Canard and the Porc were unavailable which limited the choice and rather spoiled her meal. The desserts however, Apple sorbet and Calvados, and Creme Brûlée were beautiful.
The position, service and ambience of the restaurant could not be faulted. Prices are very reasonable ... €80 inc aperitifs and a 50cl picher of Rosé. Only criticism is the choice, which COULD limit your enjoyment and appreciation. There were plenty of Locals eating there, who were very pally with Le Patron, so take that as a good sign. But overall, a great dining experience which proved to be great value. Make sure you list this as a place to dine.

My husband always wants to visit this restaurant as they make the best pizza in Saint Georges in his opinion. I usually have the Magret de Canard and this was really nice although the pepper sauce that came with it was far too hot for...MoreNous sommes très heureux que notre restaurant vous plaise, et espérons vous revoir bientôt.

Situated on the beach its very easy to underestimate rhe Cafe des Bains - it looks like a cafe cum bar cum resto.
BUT dine inside or on the Terrace overlooking the beach. Its marvellous, very good service, beautiful food, friendly, helpful staff and a view to die for.
We had a wonderful lunch in this somewhat under-rated restaurant. Font be deceived by the exterior - go inside and dine, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

According to the reviews, and by French standards in general, we were rather disappointed. Had the menu découverte, with the foie gras rather bland and not with a good texture, then the beef cheek (good, but not outstanding) and the cheese platter (only good as well). Service was mixed. With the cheese, they had raisins and nuts, but we were not offered them?!
Out of 3 dinners in Southwestern France, it was the poorest. In Royan, which probably does not have a lot to offer, it was OK though.

We were just looking for a light lunch and stopped at this little place and tried their 10euro per person Tapas, we found it just right for what we were looking for and very tasty to. The service was good and the lady doing most of the cooking friendly and chatty, we wi stop on our morning cycle ride here again.

Our menu is changing everyday thanks to the fresh products available. After each dinner, Laurent is preparing the following day menu on our website. You can find it on your smartphone
Four of us used this restaurant quite a lot over a week or so, we tried others but this was easily the best in town.
We all thought the choice was good and the cooking very good.
We were looked after as if we were old friends, even though we were casual diners staying somewhere else, Great staff

This is a very unusual place, located in the middle of an industrial estate and housed in what looks like an industrial unit, but what it lacks in location it more than makes up for in the quality of the food and the service. I had the 'assiette de boucher' which comprised a large entrecote and a large brochette of rump streak served with home made fries and a sauce of your choice. As the main dish was so large we didn't have room for dessert, but what we saw being served looked very tempting. Our main course cost €16.50 but most people seemed to be eating off the €14.50 three course menu, which had plenty of choice and included a starter buffet. Towards the end of the lunch period the chef (and I believe the owner) came and spoke to all the diners - a nice touch, he also served some of the late-comers. The restaurant is only open for lunch. So if you're looking for place for a romantic lunch in beautiful surrounding don't come here, but if your hungry and appreciate good food well served at very reasonable prices, La Gargote will take some beating

Clearly above the average bistrot of the area : welcome friendly and polite , not the usual too familiar words ; decoration a bit more trendy that all the "cantines" along the shore ; good idea instead of presenting a wine list ot have the customers going into the small but nice cellar selecting his wine according to the comments and prices on the slates . Food is of good quality and tasty ; i had the lemon ice cream which was quite incredible ! not cheap but we will come back ! better book your table, it is quite busy , 2 services ; could be Noisy if big tables.

Other than tarte aux prunes was unable to offer even bread and cheese or oysters mussels, the lady who I took to be the owner appeared to have been supping the wine leaning over me telling me how long the place had been in the family etc but could still only offer the plum tart or chips ,as it was only about 1pm a bit of a poor show , we had visited it a few times in the past not that we ever thought much of it ,it was just about half way on our daily cycle ride, we go a bit further now and stop for our lunch.
