We would like to thank all our guests that visit and reviewed us in our first 8 years of activity, Deborah & Joost. Our Winebar-Enoteca is specialized in platters prepared at the moment with local sliced cuts and cheeses.we don't not serve pasta, or maincourses because our philosophy is doing just a few things...but done in the proper way. Genuine ospitality and our motto "come like a guest go like a friend"
Stopped in for a glass of wine before heading to La Darsena for dinner. We sat outside on the amazing roof top bar under the grapes and lattice. Service and wine flight were amazing. After dinner and walking by again he decided to stop in for a glass of wine to end the evening and sat inside to enjoy the cave like feel. What a wonderful experience. While we did not have any food we did see others eating and it looked very good. A must stop!

This was one of the most special moments of a summer-long trip across Europe. The chef's wife picked us up and drove us up the dizzying mountain road. Incredible views! Upon arrival, the chef came out and welcomed us. He was well-aware of my gluten intolerance as he had answered the phone when I called to make our reservation. We had the tasting menu and it was divine. The risotto was the best we've ever had, regardless of restaurant price. The chef even gave out his recipe--not that one could ever replicate it. We had more food than we could manage, wine with dinner, and my husband had what seemed to be endless glasses of limoncello--all for 60 euro. When we were ready to go, the chef drove us back to Varenna. Fantastic experience! We cannot wait to return.

VERY expensive restaurant with food that looks fancy but very bad, VERY small dishes. We went there because our hotel recommended it, we came back hungry with a bill of 120€ for a couple. DO NOT GO THERE!

Wine Bar with local food
Having visited several times before I was sorely disappointed with the current state of aperitivo et al during my last visit.
The bar/restaurant I knew and loved from three years ago has been replaced with a continuous advertisement for shipping of wine.
The focus of the bar has always been wine however the malt whisky selection was previously second to none in the local area and cocktails a aplenty.
Upon arriving at the bar this time around we were told there was a ten minute wait. No problem. However they are using up one table for a giant advert for their wine export service. Okay. Upon enquiring for a cocktail list we were informed by a surly server that this is a wine bar. Assuming that we had just had a bad experience we returned the following day. Again the service was unfriendly, we had a menu placed down with the wine by the glass range on show and encouraged to order from this. We had a quick drink and left. Three years ago we would happily spend the whole night there.
The charm and quaintness this place had appears to have sadly disappeared.

Can't complement this place enough. All the courses I had were excellent. It's small so Reservations are recommended but worth any trouble eating here. I can see why they get such good ratings on Tripadvisor. Great music in the background for what amounts to a trully memorable dining experience. One of the best I have had. Six stars.

To all the foodies... We loved it! The wines this restaurant harbors are amazing and so complementary to the dishes served. The pallet ingredients / produce combinations were perfect. The quality of the ingredients and dishes were very fresh and thus very good. This place has the typical rustic Italian feel to it where you can enjoy the awesome dishes Italy has to offer in- or outside on the Terrace in combination with an enjoyable rustic environment and great hospitality provided by the staff. By the way not only what's on the plate but the beautiful plate work combined with specific dishes is spot on and a treat to the eye if you enjoy the fact that presentation has been thought of as well.
This place is a hidden gem. We highly recommend this restaurant. The quality & presentation of the food, the staff and interior design is wonderful. All this supersedes the price so it's def. your money's worth. You will definitely notice their eye for quality.
Further the location "via padri serviti 2" is unfortunately wrongly appointed by google maps and all navigation systems. Please note that the restaurant is on the other side of road, so once you get into the wrong part of the street drive the other way straight over the road and turn left or right.
When you find this amazing hidden gem I upfront would like to wish you Bon Appetite! Enjoy!

Exclusive Lake View, Light Lunch & Dinner, Continental Breakfast
We stayed for 3 hours drinking, eating a bit here, outside, people watching, talking, watching some Italy fisherman try for 3 hours to take a boat that was stuck out, even cops showed up, and we had a great time. Food was good, inside was quaint, and service was good. The little town was very romantic, I included some pictures of the streets and stairs, remember we are on the bottom at the Lake. Took a ferry across. It is a real shame I had to leave. I could have stayed here another 3 hours. Bring some good friends and relive your childhood. Picture yourself here, wow I loved it.

I almost don't want to write this review because this place should be kept a secret. Yet, at the same time, I want Angela and her family to continuously serve their magnificent meals. This place is IMPOSSIBLE to find. Google maps will get you there to a certain point...but beyond that I can only recommend that you brush up on your Italian. You'll have to ask for directions. The stairs that lead you to the gated property are made of stone and they are located on the other side of a little town. We had to walk through a couple of narrow roads to find the trail head. It felt almost intrusive, but totally worth it! We were greeted with wine and roasted hazelnuts and then course after course of delicious Italian cuisine. Almost everything we ate was produced and grown on their farm. It was a perfect experience. Absolutely perfect. You have to make Reservations and Angela speaks english very well. If you are lucky enough to find this place...go!

I highly recommend Da Gigi. They offer an excellent menu with choices combining local ingredients with a bit of eclecticism. Moreover, extremely friendly and informative service is thrown in for good measure. I could not resist trying at least one of the antipasti, primi, secondi...MoreDear badgertra, thank you for your words, we always try to do our best for our guests. It's a pleasure to know when they are happy for the experience in our restaurant. We hope to see you again, Da Gigi
