Portoferraio is a town and comune in the province of Livorno, on the edge of the eponymous harbour of the island of Elba. It is the island's largest city. Because of its terrain, many of its buildings are situated on the slopes of a tiny hill bordered on three sides by the sea.

I went for dinner at this restaurant one evening as we were looking for a nice view for the sunset, we were not disappointed, under the restaurant Terrace you can access the sea and have a beautiful view to the sunset.
But the food did not disappoint us either, I had muscles and seafood antipasti and my hubby had tuna, it was all great and delicious. A little pricy but within the prices of Elba. Lovely time. Well recommended

We had such a wonderful dinner here!! We choose the 7-course tasting menu. Each course had its own story and curious details. And each dish was incredible--so well executed and also beautiful. We were very surprised how quickly the dishes came out after each other, although we didn't feel rushed at all--we ended up being there for 3 leisurely hours! The restaurant attempts to source everything locally in an ethical way--a difficult and very commendable feat. We left full and very happy.
In terms of the space itself, it's such a treat to watch the chef work in the kitchen through the beautiful large window that faces the Seating area outside. Sitting outside in the night air was delightful--it's fun to watch the life of the neighborhood in this quiet street.
Our waiters were so friendly and personable, explaining each course and sharing the stories of the restaurant. The chef himself came out and chatted with us at the end of the night.
Grazie mille Pepenero for a memorable experience!

Welcoming place, with typical Elba cuisine and an extensive wine list, parking, open for dinner only ideal for business dinners and special events or occasional.
We decided to check out this restaurant out one day, on our drive to Hotel Villa Ottone where we were going to spend the next 10 days chillaxing. We arrived for an impromptu dinner on Wednesday the 28th and found ourselves in, what appeared to be the original section of the restaurant. I chose a grilled seafood platter and my wife ordered a pizza. We were offered some focaccia as an appetizer and the choice of dessert was that of a home made Bonet, a wonderfull old fashioned dessert originating in Piemonte , a caramel custard with chocolate undertones. This was followed by an espresso and a complimetary limoncello infused with mint. The service was as expected of this establishment.
We really fancied the lobster on the menu but this had to be ordered, so we booked for a table the followig Friday, after our meal, in the annexed part of the restaurant.
Our table was ready, we were welcomed like old friends and we decided on a starter of Crudo di Pesce with fruit, followed by lobster and home-made pasta according to our requirement, followed by a cheesecake with fruits of the forest.
All this was washed down by a perfect dry prosecco, as suggested. Strongly recommended !! A gourmet treasure trove !! Attentive service, pleasant ambience, excellent attention to the diners demands and a price to match !

The veranda, air-conditioned environment, indoor Lounge Bar and pizzeria established in 1885, now The Castagnacciaio is today an important benchmark of the day many Tuscans that are poured into our local from every part of the island of Elba.
Our family really enjoyed this authentic pizzeria on 2 occasions during our stay on Elba. Great atmosphere and the pizza dough was so light and tasty. The torte e check was a hit with us all as something different to start.
Other favourites were the pizza della casa and pizza verdure, both were loaded with toppings and when we ordered the second time they differed slightly, which reassured us that the toppings were as fresh as they come. Some reviewers have complained that their pizzas were overcooked, but ours were beautifully done and the service was pleasant, though not effusive.

For a romantic meal (lunch or dinner) I would suggest this beautiful place. The setting is very romantic and on the beach. We had the vermentino from Elba (local wine is always the best). Mostly they serve seafood but for all those who travel with partners that don't eat fish they are able to provide "something". The fish is wonderful you can taste that it's fresh... I really liked the environment because it's very relaxing.. the waves are the music that accompanies your meal..

We were well looked after by Fabrizio and had a nice table on the Terrace outside. The food was excellent, especially the fish and there was a sensible wine list. When I went to pay the bill I discovered his mother did the cooking. Wonderful.

This wonderful restaurant is situated among vineyards.
The food and the service were perfect.
For starters we ordered platter of Cinta senese pork salami, pecorino cheeses and crostini.
For the main courses - Barbecued T-bone stake Chianina beef with vegetables and potatoes accompanied with the very good local wine - Sussurro.
For desert we ordered peach sorbet which was very light and fresh, peach tart and ricotta cream con fragola.
Highly recommended for visiting.

Started with antipasti of gratin acted mussels, anchovies, tuna and octopus, followed by Cod and chickpea soup and spaghetti with clams. Amazing. Like eating in the friendliest Italian home. A definite must if you ever visit Elba.

This restaurant was recommended to us and we had high hopes given the other recommendation we had received, but we were underwhelmed.
The service, while friendly and attentive, felt very forced and very insincere. No big thing, but we felt it. The food was ok, but not stellar by any stretch of the imagination, and our food came our way too quickly. We weren't even half finished with the first course when the second one came out.
Then, the bill...Very bizarre situation at payment time. I started getting out my money and just repeated (to myself )the price, which seemed high for what we ate, but the bill checked out. The owner semi panicked and immediately reduced the price of the bill by about 12 Euros. It makes me suspect that there are prices for tourists and another menu for locals....It wouldn't be the first time I've encountered this in Italy.

Typical steakhouse food. I'm from Texas so I'm a little more critical but the meat was cooked well done and the potatoes and grilled veggies were good. I ordered the meat sampler and there was a wiener as one of the meats. I tasted it and it tasted like a generic brand wiener. I guess the German tourist are into this??? Skip the wiener and sausages and get the steaks and chicken. The owner only speaks Italian but one waitress spoke 4 languages.
