We were only in KI for one day and found this cafe on our way back to the Wharf. The welcome was warm and the wine well chilled! The fish looked amazing with the crispiest of batter - diners were tucking in and obviously enjoying their meal. When next in KI I know where we'll be eating!

Glass walls at the front of the outdoor area and large windows opening to the sea air capture the light and view for all diners in all weather with new modern alfresco furniture. The Penneshaw Hotel – also known as the “Penny”- has both inside and alfresco dining areas giving the hotel a relaxed casual feel. However, there's nothing casual about the excellent presentation and consistency of the food. With a superb wine list, some of the best pub food SA has to offer and competitive function options the Penny is a perfect crowd pleaser.
The restaurant does have a simple menu but the plates are well prepared and are reasonably priced. The Terrace has an amazing wiew.

It was Mother's Day and we were lucky that we got there early and had no trouble getting a table. We had very good service and after Seating us and giving us menus were told we had to order from the bar which was not a problem. As it was Mother's Day I decided to splurge and had the most expensive dish on the menu. It was the $36 Bay To Paddock meal of steak, 2 lamb chops, garlic prawns, calamari, fries & salad. Very disappointed as the steak was small and both the steak & the lamb chops were overcooked but the seafood was nice. My husband had the Pumpkin, Lentil and Coconut Curry and for a further $6 you could add Tandoori Chicken but it was lucky he didn't want that as they had run out of the chicken. He said the curry was excellent. Glad one of us was happy. Had a bit of a wait for the food but not overly long. Would try eating here again but I would definitely choose something else.

2 Birds & A Squid catering makes your Kangaroo Island experience easy and stress free. We provide everything from events, secret dining locations to providing meals in the privacy of your holiday retreat.
Not much choice near to the ferry terminal on Kangaroo Island, so eat where available.
At least the fish and chips were freshly cooked and when asked whether there was a vegetarian option the lady was honest enough to say that everything was cooked in animal fats.
Too much batter and not enough fish for me, but the chips were good, and not overpriced

The drive out along the Cape Willoughby road is unmade but quite smooth. You turn into Dudley Wines driveway and you wonder "where are the vines"? We are told during our extensive tasting that the family vineyard and winery is a bit further down the...MoreYou nailed it! Glass of wine, tasty pizza and the view.......makes it really hard to leave at the end of the day. Thank you for your glowing review. Hopefully you can return for another visit someday. Cheers!

The SeaDragon cafe boasts spectacular ocean views over the bay at Penneshaw as well as free Wi-Fi, tourist information and booking services, access friendly entry ramp, access and family friendly restrooms, a lift and a gift shop featuring KI Produce, wine and souvenirs.
Not an excellent review only because we wanted to purchase a bottle of wine but couldn't as there was no one working who was licensed to do so. Very disappointing.
Staff member was very friendly and made delicious coffee. Was nice to have a few different vegetarian options on offer. Cornish pastie with cheese was very yummy.
Other half had a ham and cheese croissant which he was very happy with.

Modern bistro with a focus on seafood and South Australian produce with ocean views.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Sunset. The food was some of the best executed we have had for some time. Entrees, mains and desserts were all well thought out and plated as well as delicious, using local KI produce. The only very small criticism was that the Whiting Milanese didn’t need the aioli style sauce served with it but as it was served on the side this wasn’t an issue and we just left it on the plate. The service was great - friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Drinks selection was excellent. Great views as well.

We had a late lunch, which was pretty good. Chicken burgers and beef burger were quite tasty, and service was friendly. Perfectly nice place for lunch, and I suspect they probably do a good breakfast.

Sorrento Pizzeria @ Seafront Not quite Sorrento’s in Italy but it’s close with our stunning overviews overlooking the back stairs passage, grab a pizza and beer whilst looking back on Australia. Our pizzas are made with the freshest produce made to order with homemade dough, The Greek Lamb and Seafood pizza is a MUST! Sorrento’s pizzeria seats up to 40 people and is a great place for a family get together. Fully licensed No BYO
We had lunch here the day we arrived. We were quite surprised about the high quality of the pizzas. We ordered the Greek Lamb pizza and it was delicious. Very friendly staff and fully licenced. If staying at the Seacrest motel next door one can have breakfast here. Great value for money. Really great pizzas.
