I had dinner at Li Espi at the end of July 2009. We were a party of 7 – including two small children.
I had inspected the place last June, when I tried to have dinner there without reservation on a Friday evening, only to be confronted by the restaurant manager, who warned us that without reservation they could not guarantee us the house special “porcetto” – in which case a “fall back” main course would have been served. Although the substance of the message was fair enough, it was delivered in such an unwelcoming way that we decided to have dinner somewhere else. Even in such disappointing circumstances, though, I could not fail to notice at first glance the attractiveness of the place and of the food that the other diners were having.
This was what brought me there the second time (this time with a reservation), even if this meant to break one of my “golden rules” - zero tolerance with rude staff and restaurant management. The very negative reviews I read on this very website on “Li Espi” almost kept me at large, but I decided to take those with (more than) a pinch of salt and the facts vindicated my stubbornness.
As it is customary with “Agriturismo” restaurants in Sardinia, the restaurant offers a “set dinner” arrangement, which includes a full multi-courses meal and drinks (mineral water, house wine, coffee and digestives). Children can either have a dedicated menu, or share with the adults - being charged at 50% (we opted for this second option).
This time the rude restaurant manager was not in sight and we were welcomed by a cheerful and competent young man called Davide, who waited at our table kindly and competently throughout the evening.
The “set menu” includes several appetizers (cheese, ham, salami, aubergines, chickpeas, farro, and other), two first courses (they vary every evening, we got ravioli and the traditional “zupa coata” made with bread, meat soup and cheese), the “porcetto” (baby pork) and desserts.
The quality of the food was consistently good. As to the drinks, the set menu includes a surprisingly good house red. This said, we also asked for the wine list. The list was quite limited and unrealistically priced: to give you an example, a “Torbato Brut” (a Sardinian spumante) was on the list at € 30.00 (versus a retail price of approximately € 7.00). This is a big minus of this restaurant: Sardinia produces very good wines, and I believe that customers would be very happy to order a good bottle if only enticed by a fair price – which is not at all the case there. Incidentally, this is also quite stupid when you are serving a very drinkable house wine included in the arrangement. I wonder how many bottles they manage to sell at those prices.
In conclusion, it was a very nice evening in a very nice place. At € 30.00 per person it is by no means a rip-off as suggested by one of your reviewers.

Resturant with big attention to detail, careful selection of the quality of used products. Veranda with a view over the sea , reservation, also after midnight.... Spoken language : English- German -French -Spanish.
This part of Sardinia is expensive due to the Porto Cervo effect, but the Trip Advisor & Lonely Planet reviews of this restaurant are bona fide in our opinion. Very tasty and authentic "Sarde" food, well presented and truly excellent service. Thoroughly recommended

Open From 15 April To 15 October
Traditional and very characteristic Sardinian restaurant, usually very busy so reservation well in advance is advised.
Their specialties include the procedure, which is roasted piglet (those cute animals quite popular in cartoons!) and the Sardinian bread. Staff is very kind and they have a very good selection of wines, try the local ones

This restaurant is situated next to the church. The service was fantastic, the staff were very helpful and friendly and were able to help us with choices in English as our Italian isn't very good.
The food was fantastic and plenty of it.
Some really good dishes and they had a specials board.
I had the spaghetti with mussels and the Caprese salad to start. Both delicious.
My son and his cousin had mussels, which was a huge portion. Probably enough for a main course. They ordered mains too but were so full they couldn't eat them.
Pizzas are great and they do loads of pasta dishes. So all in all a great selection.
The meal came to about 250 (with tip) for 4 adults and 5 children.
We will definitely be coming back whilst we are in Sardinia!

We hesitated at first to go in here, because in front there were lots of teenager smoking. But inside it was very nice with plushy chairs, a great wine selection for affordable prices and tasty chees and sausage that came with the wine.

Found this place just off the main streets of Palau.
As always with us no reservation, they squeezed us in at the very back.
There is a star of the show. A young lady who worked the bar great, great service with a simply smile (Palau take note!)
Free pizza balls, normal breads with grizzini sticks.
Salads were the best we had in Palau. Pizza was ok, very soggy but tasted good.
Beer and wine priced well.
A good night, thank you

This place offers really great pasta, homemade! The taste was delicious, really the best experience in Sardinia. Only the tiramisu was a bit disappointing (not a lot of taste) and some (not all) staff members not very friendly. But I recommend this place! Don’t forget...MoreGrazie

After several dinners in Palau we felt like "just a small Pizza tonight" and found this small home delivery/ take-away location. It only has 3 small tables and little atmosphere, yet the Pizza is awesome. Any Pizza lives on the quality of its ingredients - I tried the Matizza Pizza and the rocket salad was perfect, the tomatoes fresh and full of Aroma, the Pecorino was well- balanced as well and the dought thing and crispy and full of flavour. We also had a Prosciutto Pizza which was good as well.
Not a place for a romantic dinner but an awesome location for a quick and excellent Pizza. Definitely recommended.
