Mexican restaurant-Tapas bar-Steakhouse "Cantina Dolores" is what it sounds like, casual, tropical and cozy. With the colorful decor and upbeat music you tackle your holiday mood immediately. The dishes range from Mexican fajitas to Spanish tapas to a tender "dry-aged" ribeye steak. You are most welcome!
What we liked from this restaurant was the possibility to taste several Mexican tapas at very affordable prices (i.e., "nachos con todos", 12,75 euros; 2 lamb chuletas, 7,50 euros; calamares, 5,25 euros). The kids menus also represent good value-for-money (6,95 euros). The classic margarita was well done.
There is a playground area for kids.

A broad menu with lots to choose from if you are with friends. The Griffel is an old school house and has a nice relaxed atmosphere for dinner - outside and inside space depending on the weather. Friendly staff and good attention to your requests.

After a great Ameland Beach Rugby 7's tournament our hosts suggested Frankies and what a great suggestion !!
All 15 of us were served promptly and the food was delicious!! Our steaks just melted and our waitresses were brilliant! Drinks flowed and form the quality of food the prices were most reasonable!

We went here because it was recommended to us and we were not dissappointed.
There was a wide choice of dishes and the food was lovely and plentiful with some nice touches.
Staff were friendly and attentive and the prices were reasonable.
Pity the Dutch eat so early, we felt a bit under pressure to finish and leave when they started clearing the place around us.

Restaurant is not exactly the right name for this fish store. You can buy fish and eat it there. But the word restaurant makes you expect more than this is.
Of course we ordered herring (salted version). With unions. No pickles were added. Which you might consider as standard nowadays. And we ordered filets of eel. The eel was not wild and you could taste that. Structure of the fish was not ok. And the taste was a bit strong. Not subtle.
You might expect a bit more on a place like Ameland. Please note that we didnt order the other fish. They had marinated wels catfish as well. That looked pretty good.

We arrived pretty late to Ameland, but the staff here still went out of their way to organise a table and make us feel welcome. A great first impression!
On arrival we were greeted by a very nice, cosy, homely looking restaurant with very friendly staff. Due to our late arrival, there were a few dishes that were not on offer to us, but the choice was still wide enough and the staff were very apologetic (we were late, we should have been apologising!).
The food was presented very well and tasted excellent. I had the spare ribs and was NOT disappointed with them! The rest of my party were all very impressed with their dishes and enjoyed the beautiful, cosy surroundings, settling in to our first night on Ameland.
The food is of course, not cheap, but then nothing on Ameland appears to be cheap, however we didn't break the bank paying for it, unlike some of the other places on Ameland.
I would say that this place is worth every penny, give it a try.

Such a small, quaint, little place you'd almost overlook it. Walk into a pub-like restaurant, with more quality furnishings. The food we had was really, really good. The service was very friendly and the whole surroundings made us stay for an extra glass of wine after dinner.

All along the windows, walls and ceiling of this rustic village eatery, old farm and household implements are strewn around in dizzying profusion. The piece de resistance is a life-size Massey Ferguson tractor, somehow built into the bar......which can be activated to make its lights flash and steam emit from the vertical exhaust pipe.....
The washrooms have actual hand-activated old-style pump-handles to get the (cold only, in calvinistic Dutch fashion) basin water flowing.....
Food is not too bad, but charging extra for both your fries as well as your mayo with the hamburger comes across as slightly mercenary.....

Take the bike trail along the north side of Ameland and at some point you will hit this little beach pavilion. The secluded Terrace area, overlooking a natural phenomenon: the sand hook, is very nice. The restaurant indoors is simple but the food is terrific. Try the squid and you'll be back! ;-))
