We came in L'espieglerie to celebrate my birthday. We stayed in their hotel and if you enter, this place continues in the same old charming style.Totally renovated but it kept its original style.Very cosy.We took their menu and everything was very tastfull and light. The waiting-times between the different dishes was perfect, the French wine we ordered was fine and service was nice and good, nothing to complain. The menu serves the French cuisine.Overall : service-quality : top!

We, and the rest of the family, have been going to this restaurant for a few years now
and we must say the place, the setting and the service are very good, even excellent!
Our only regret is that their prices have climbed and continue to climb!
A lunch which used to be priced at 16€ is now 25€! Only one dish! and the main reason is that this restaurant has especialized on businessmen and for that price you can find any other similar restaurant in Namur. In fact the menu at 38€ becomes then much more interesting!! But it is a good restaurant. The chef-owner used to work at the Spièglerie restaurant in Namur centre which is another superb restaurant in a beautiful setting and a better priced lunch!

On our way back to England from Germany we stopped to visit our cousins who live in Namur. In the evening they suggested to come here for dinner. I wasn't prepared for this: from the outside the place looks so unassuming, it is right next to a sort of natural swimming pool and it looks like very bad 60s/70s architecture from the outside. But once inside, there are nice materials and decoration and on the whole a pleasant atmosphere. Very spacious, large spaces between tables.
We ordered the menu with wine to accompany the dishes. The starter was a kind of 'Surf and Turf', a cooked prawn on top of steak tartar with a deep fried salad leaf in between. It was exquisite! I cannot remember the wine we had with the dish, but it was a lovely white wine and in contrast to other places with wine flight, they came and refilled our glasses. Then we had to wait for more than 40 minutes until our main course arrived (thankfully they kept refilling our glasses!) The main courses were very good, depending which school you're from you might say 'very small portions' or 'just right' (my take). I had venison, the others had the lobster or fish. All very well cooked. Accompanied by a red wine from the Southern Rhone, made from a grape I never had heard of before and cannot remember at this moment. It went very well with the food.
Dessert arrived a bit faster, but there was no dessert wine to accompany it.
All in all we had a pleasant evening and a good meal. My impression was that they are trying to get a star in the Michelin (they are listed) and maybe that they are trying a bit too hard. I wish them all the best luck in achieving their goal.

We checked trip advisor to find this was at that time the 14th best restaurant in Namur. That's just nonsense - if it was rated the 14th best in Belgium that would be closer to the mark.
I eat out a lot, privately and on business and it's possible to get jaded, but the originality and excellence of cooking made this really exciting. I had scallops and a crispy ravioli of prawn mouse in a jus of green herb - just stunning. Then I had cod, perfectly cooked and in a broth that was chicken stock based - again brilliant.

Cosy, friendly service, nice food, relaxed atmosphere. One small remark is that our main of pigeon was somewhat oversalted and the anisy hebrs wer slightly overpowering. But we're going back in June so obviously we were happy with our meal !

I had an amazing vegan lunch in the Michelin starred restaurant L’Essentiel in Temploux (Wallonia). We called one day ahead to ask whether it was possible to eat a vegan menu as this wasn’t advertised on their own website nor on the ViaMichelin site.
The lady on the phone (owner) said directly: “OK, no animal ingredients at all right?” This was a very good sign, as most of the times restaurant people don’t have the slightest idea what vegan means. She checked with her chef and came back to us that it wouldn’t be a problem.
Upon arrival we were shown to our table in the very beautiful setting (purple/ taupe). The restaurant was quite filled up for a Saturday noon during summer and the service was impeccable (filling wine and water glasses, taking and executing our order and presenting the menus). We chose entrée, plat, dessert and received 2 amuses and 1 extra dessert (with the coffee) on the house. The vegan menu consisted of a delicious amuse of white bean puree and a celery salad perfectly seasoned and a yellow zucchini soup and mix of thin slivers of marinated tomatoes. The starter was a beautifully dressed salad of kohlrabi with mango (sliced julienne) and some bell peppers and extra vierge olive oil from Greece served with a selection of 14 home-baked breads (I chose a slice of olive & whole wheat bread). The main course was a grain (Ebly) cooked to perfection, mixed with small julienne vegetables topped with a mix of seasonable vegetables again perfectly tender yet still a bit crispy: carrot, Romanesco, butter beans, and some more. There was a seasoning of olive oil and some green sauce and again some white bean puree, all perfectly seasoned and finished of with fresh herbs from their garden. At this point I was actually perfectly satisfied, but then there was the dessert & one doesn’t pass on a dessert in a Michelin star restaurant. I received a bowl with a sorbet of apricots, lukewarm rhubarb, grapes, mini Cantaloupe melon balls and forest strawberries, really delicious. The owner told me that they’d gone through the entire dessert menu to see what would be appropriate for me (the vegan or vegetable lady as one of the waiters called me), but it seemed all of their desserts had some dairy so they made something up.
When my partner ordered an espresso, we received two more desserts, mine was Cantaloupe sorbet and mango slices wrapped around small pieces of half-baked banana. We shared half a bottle of Sancerre wine. It was quite pricey, a bit too expensive maybe. However, it was a wonderful experience, delightful service and food, something to do for a special occasion. It is really worth asking for vegetarian or vegan food as this way more and more chefs will realize there is a demand.

Came here on a Sunday morning for breakfast/brunch.
Namur on a Sunday morning is very quiet. We were able to get a table straight away.
We were greeted by a friendly waitress and could tell that they were lacking staff for such a busy room.
Anyway they were happy to accommodate as I wanted a savoury for breakfast.
The "wake up" is excellent value: hot drink, juice and pastry for €5.50.
I also had a ham and cheese Sandwich which came with some salads. Total for all this was under €10 and extremely filling. Value for money on this was excellent.
Everything was tasty and there was a big selection.
Would recommend.

We went in early on a friday night. The place was full only one small table was free. We got 2 wines each and some cheeses and a truffel sausage. All was great. And the wines were exactly what i wanted: off the breaten track. The owner does a great Job! Will be back there on my next visit to Namur.
