Visited the city of Memmingen for work and had been recommended to have dinner here. Sit in the garden and relax- the atmosphere is wonderful and the Swabian style of food is very good. Also, consider staying at the hotel after exploring the town

Good food, imaginatively presented, in a friendly and informal atmosphere (with a Hallowe'en theme). Max, our waiter, spoke good English and explained the German menu and made good wine suggestions. We went on Tuesday night and returned on Friday. Definitely the best restaurant we ate in during our holiday.

My wife and I chose this restaurant on the strength of a recommendation of a TripAdvisor contributor and we are glad that we did. The restaurant is not easy to find. It is situated on a retail park probably a mile from the centre of the town. We walked, as we didn't have a car, but a taxi would be a better option if you're not into walking. The restaurant is situated on the top floor , there is a lift, of a rather ugly building, but don't be put off.
On entering the restaurant we were surprised to see how busy it was, always a good sign. Obviously they have few English speaking diners as our arrival produced a flurry of activity and we were introduced to the chef Mario "who speaks English".Mario is the guy who will prepare your pizza and cook it for you in the pizza oven in the centre of the restaurant. We were shown to a table and Mario left his oven to help us interpret the menu. We had an excellent meal which was topped of with complimentary glasses of schnaps. The service had been attentive and friendly and we will certainly go back to eat at Restorante Palazzo the next time we are in Memmingen.

This was certainly a most attractive restaurant from outside and was an obvious choice for my wife and to eat on our overnight stay in beautiful Memmingen as it was just a couple of minutes walk from our hotel.
We looked at the menu outside in the morning, saw several of our favourite dishes, so booked for an evening meal.
We decided to sit outside for an aperitif, nice furniture, very pleasant service and great location.
However, going inside to eat was a real disappointment. Tables were situated in very close proximity to one another and the chairs were of the cheap red plastic variety. It was hardly the typical cosy 'gemutlicheit' atmosphere often found in Germany and which we were expecting after the very acceptable outside area.
My wife and I ordered Pfifferlingen [a mushroom speciality in Germany] Bruschetta to start followed by Zweibelrostbraten for me and a Wiener Schnitzel of veal for my wife.
The Bruschetta was very disappointing with a cold pre-prepared mix of pfifferlingen and tomato adorning soggy toast.
The Wiener Schnitzel of veal was not available so she had to make do with the pork version, which was OK but rather dry. The steak in the Zweibelrostbraten was covered in fried onions akin to the ones found in Hotdogs.
The service, as I have said, was pleasant and professional but the food was mediocre to say the least.

Had the Allgäuer sampler plate, which was tasty, if a little dry. Well-located and with a large menu (it's always nice to have a hard time deciding among several good choices, as diners will here) and regional specialties, this was the one restaurant form our time in Memmingen I'd go back to.

This was my second time at this restaurant and they did not fail to impress. Everything is freshly prepared which takes time, this isn't a fast food restaurant. I recommend this place to people who enjoy an atmospheric, authentic and pleasurable evening of fine wining and dining. There's a Terrace but I found that sitting inside alongside the wonderful smells of the kitchen and the quaint decor most enjoyable. In my opinion the service was perfect because we had ordered starter, main and dessert and needed the wait in between courses to properly reflect on each course. I am sure that I will return in the future!

Delicious food with large portions. I had the cucumber salad and the house pasta. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful. They love their customers and it is obvious they enjoy coming.

This seems to be the busiest, buzziest bar / restaurant in Memmingen, and it is easy to see why.
While the place was rather full, a small table was found for my wife and I, and service was quick and efficient. The steak and french fries was recommended and it was very good and very reasonably priced at under €10 per person. Space is at a premium with some of the tables, but this may contribute to the convivial atmosphere. The owner (I presume!) also "works" the room and is a very pleasant and "smiley" gentleman.
The restaurant is part of a building which is a museum, although its access is independent. We ate in a conservatory added to the side of the building. Its also located next to the train station, so a good stop for anybody waiting for a train.
