Memmingen is a town in Swabia, Bavaria, Germany. It is the economic, educational and administrative centre of the Danube-Iller region. To the west the town is flanked by the Iller, the river that marks the Baden-Württemberg border. To the north, east and south the town is surrounded by the district of Unterallgäu (Lower Allgäu).

It is a lovely old south German city with attention to preserving the old buildings, Saturday morning there were stalls on the square with everything from fruit to meat and cheese .. This is certainly one to visit

I was invited into the Rathaus by the town mayor during the recent Wallenstein festival, which is held every four years. This is the third time I have been there and the interior matches the exterior, in a word breath-taking. The highly polished wooded décor is wonderful to see and the pristine walls with the brightly coloured paint are a great credit to the town. I would certainly recommend you visit this building if you are in Memmingen.

A very beautiful hall for Concerts in the old church. Worth seeing, and next to it there is a cafe, restaurant, where you can have a coffee with some nice cakes, with also the great ceilings. Something so Barok, with stucco ceilings and fresco'es hidden from the outside in a from the outside simple square looking church is quite a surprise. Also the different used materials, like the marble for the pillars makes it all quite impressive. Just off the main square, so do not forget to check it out when in Memmingen

The best 2euros per adult spent. We got a tour of the tower only by a German speaking guide though he did try to inform us of certain points. Also an overview guide sheet to read. You must be able to climb over 200 steps up then down. It is done in stages to see the floors, bells, clock workings watch keepers accommodation and go out onto the balconies to get amazing views of the surrounding areas depending on weather. Not sure how long into the year it will be open for.

Several rather spectacular Exhibitions in this extraordinary space, from an exhibition on mass culture, 'Und ich?', organized by students of a local university, to an insightful exhibition of works by women artists from the Middle East (including Mariam Ghani and Mona Hatoum!). A place to re-visit.
Plus a ridiculous entrance fee of 3 €!

We visited this museum as my wife's family is from Memmingen. Their collections were in cases very good, and we were able to find many references to my wife's relatives. The building itself is very nice and a beautiful example of Bavarian architecture.
My biggest complaint is that there is no translation of any of the placards. We would very much have liked to read them but could only try to make our way through with the German we do know.
