Medvode (pronounced [mɛˈdʋoːdɛ] ( listen); German: Zwischenwässern) is a town and a municipality in Slovenia. The Sava and Sora rivers join in Medvode, from which the town's name (which means 'between the waters') is derived. Two large factories, Color and Donit, are based in Medvode. The Sava River at Medvode is also the location of the Medvode Hydroelectric Power Plant. After the Second World War, a Yugoslav labor camp for political prisoners operated in Medvode.

We went here both nights of our stay in Skofja Loka. Once for the pizza and once just for drinks (beer and wine). The second visit for drinks, all outside tables were either filled or had reservation cards on them. Asked the owner if we could sit at a reserved table to have only wine and beer until until the patrons arrived. Absolutely! When the patrons arrived, he rearranged things to allow us to stay seated there. Considering we were not eating, I thought it a very nice gesture. First nights pizza was excellent.

Dinner at Skarucna is unforgettable and unforgivable experience, never to come back!
Hygiene in every context is under acceptable minimum.
Stuff , owner- waiter, rude, loud, annoying.
They serve slow food which is too slow, menu and wine list do not exist so they can charge you anything they like, and it is expensive.
They serve average food, kind of very simple Slovenian tradition made of inexpensive ingredients.
The last dish was aged beef , but that came after tree hours of salads and spreads ,we hardly had some.
The dinner was completely spoiled by loud owner ,saying nonsense about food ( especially wine)trying to dominate in every way , all the time.
So , if you are really, even a little bit, into gastronomy and hospitality avoid this place 100%.

It is hard to give real evaluation for this place. From the view of the village Reteče and region between Medvode and Škofja Loka it is the best restaurant. From the view of the Ljubljana it is average. They have perfect food, they have nice personnel. On the other side they don’t have the feeling of something special inside. It is not an old village inn any more and it is not city restaurant yet. You have parking near the main entrance, you have clean interior without important touch of an architect. No fear. Food is really good.

We made a reservation in Konoba Bonaca in a "last-minute" style. We were celebrating a birthday and decided to give it a try. This is a new place, it opened only a few months ago. Located in Medvode, about 12 km from the Ljubljana centre (get there by a cab or bus No. 25, direction: Medvode: get off on the last bus stop, 10min walk from there to the restaurant).
This is a family run place, father and his son are the chefs, and the head of the family ;), mother, caters to the guests' needs. Konoba has only a few tables and if you're looking for a fast food type a thing - this is not for you. This is a place where you enjoy the food (good Dalmatian food) and company of your friends/family. It's all about the experience, not just stuffing your belly till you explode.
We were warmly greeted by the mother who was of a great help when we were browsing the menu, and a minute after we were seated the chef came over, introduced himself and explained what kind of a place this is. Here you won't find fried calamari and french fries - nothing is fried. Everything is prepared on their special grill, they use organic olive oil and prepare food with love and care.
Since it was our first time, it was recommended that we try a mix of appetizers to see what works best for us - octopus salad, grilled sardines, bakalar, Paški sir cheese ... I can honestly say this was the best food we have ever tasted. We continued with grilled squid, seafood risotto, pasta with cuttlefish and squid ink and grilled chicken with grilled vegetables. Since we already had a birthday cake waiting for us at home, we didn't try any of the Deserts (next time!). The food was fresh, well prepared and the chef came by a couple of times more too see if we needed anything. Hearing we were there celebrating a birthday, the owners surprised us with complimentary drinks and we engaged in quite a long conversation.
Prices are reasonable - appetizers and main courses for 5 people + wine and sparkling water = little over 70 €.
They have limited indoor Seating (only a few tables), but have a special room upstairs for closed groups (live music also available). They do have outdoor Seating (two tables only), but it still needs a little work.
This was a very pleasant experience and if you ever come to Ljubljana and you're a seafood lover, don't forget to squeeze Konoba Bonaca in for lunch or dinner - you will most certainly not regret it. Highly recommend it. Don't forget to make a reservation.

The location is very good, near Ljubljana. Nature is beautiful. The restaurant is made of wood and has a nice view, specially at night. The food is excellent. The staff is very good. I recommended "slow" food with excelllent slovenian wine. The prices are a little higher.

This more like pastry restaurant offer also pizza and some other good food. At lunch time also lunch. We try pizza and some seafood salads and it was very tasty. Portion sizes are very generous. They have also very good fruit salads and good ice cream.
They also offer to rent a boat to lake Zbilje and you can buy food for swans that kids can feed them in the lake.

Ottima qualità della carne di manzo dei kebab. Non abbiamo assaggiato altro perché solo il kebab e le patatine erano abbondanti.
Personale molto gentile.
Prezzi nettamente inferiori a quelli italiani.

All main sightseeing are within walking distance.
We just wanted to have a quick beer on the Terrace. It did not look much from the outside. Just about ok for the one beer. Our guide, however, knew differently. We went inside and to the cellar. It appared to be a really large well designed and stylished restaurant. Service was good and the food surprisingly good.

Gostilan Belšak or Slavkov Dom where the chef is cooking for past 20 years is a well renowned restaurant with good food. Don't expect any extraordinary dishes or other surprises, but get ready for a tasty treat of Slovenian delicacies.
They have a standard selection of dishes which are always deliver as expected. No special plate decoration or any extra food presentation, just classical plates, but always tasty!
The restaurant is best known for Bull testicles (also known as: Prairie oysters or Rocky Mountain Oysters). Dish is traditionally fried and they are always tasty. For my taste a bit too salty, but they go great with tartar sauce or any salad plate.
The restaurant is also well known for home made salamis, prosciutto and other dry meat products. The chicken pate with liver is also delicious. You can always get a nice piece of tender beef meat. Various meat plates won't disappoint you unless you are a vegetarian. Than I suggest you pick another place.
Wine card is short but effective. Especially nice is their open house wine Merlot RONK from Goriška Brda. It goes great with all the meat plates.
You will pay around 40€ for a 3-4 course meal with wine.
