The food is very Mantua! Salty than average! A bit pricy!waiters are very attentive! In summer, don't think it's better to stay indoor because the air conditioning is quite weak! You'd better choose to stay outdoor! Food is average. Interior decoration is soso, simply Italian restaurant! A very big car park outside the restaurant!

Just had a main course of steal strips served with parmesan and rocket – best steak we’ve had in Italy – delivered sizzling, and medium as requested. Local Bertagna merlot at €20 was super and San Pellegrino was reasonable at €2.50. To finish off we were given a small complimentary bottle of very smooth grappa with some biscuits. Service was good and friendly. Would definitely come again.

Welcoming, nice staff. The atmosphere is relaxing, the food delicious and there are always some seasonal dishes.
The attention to the details which you note from the very beginning, with a glass of champagne as a compliment by the Chef.
Price/quality is very good. Highly recommend the desserts which are homemade and really worth trying.
The place you will want to return to.

Visited Doolin Pub last night. Had a quick bite to eat and a great pint of Guinness. The pub was busy and there was a great atmosphere, staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Quality food and drinks. Overall a great experience :-)

In Mantua something different LaCucina translates into a modern dimension the old concept of "dining" welcoming the guest in a relaxed and family environment. The menu offers both traditional and contemporary cuisine dishes maintaining the simplicity and extreme care of old times, with particular attention to the products choice and methods of cooking. At lunch, there is a deliberately small menu that allows you to quickly eat high quality food at an affordable price, in the evening you can enjoy a more extensive and elaborated menu in order to better appreciate the value of our kitchen. Customers can also order food to go and buy some of the products that we prepare and serve to our guests.
Really nice place, with a very modern and warm design, large/big tables where people just sit together .. socially refreshing .. and the good is excellent ! I had the lasagne and a chicken salad .. fresh and good ingredients accompanied by Nebbiolo delle Langhe. Excellent and kind service & good value for money. I'll be back !

Scalco Grasso is a new type of restaurant, it looks modern, young and architectural. The kitchen is innovative and offers two menus: typical dishes of Mantova and "scalcherie", the chef's creations. The restaurant is situated between Palazzo Ducale and Palazzo Te, near a big free parking on the main street and outside the limited traffic area.
Very reasonably priced restaurant in Manua with good service. However, I did not really like the two dishes I tried. The beef cheeks were terribly fatty, and the pike was fulk of tiny bones. The crunchy tirimisu was excellent. There were two donkey meat dishes on the menu, a specialty of the region.

WE'D LIKE TO INFORM OUR GUESTS THAT WE ARE CLOSED FOR SUMMER HOLIDAYS IN AUGUST,STARTING ON THE 14th AND UP TO THE 24th. FURTHERMORE, IN AUGUST WE'LL OPEN ONLY FOR DINNER (WE ARE CLOSED AT LUNCH TIME). THANKS FOR YR ATTENTION!
Imagine a dinner evening for a wedding anniversary. Where to go? in the restaurant downstairs where usually we go ... Nooo "that" night we can not go there! ..
While seeking a proper restaurant, I reminded what I heard from a former colleague met recently: "Do you remember Carlo Govi? Well he opened a restaurant in Mantua few years ago, rumors says it's good ....". fast acting , I search for, I find, and I book a table on the fly. If all goes well it will be a success if it goes wrong ... I'll put it in the black list.
We are ready for a trip of 60 km ....
Now I can say for sure: everything went well, very well, we will be back soon with an "important." excuse
The place: it is small size, a few rooms with a few tables each, discreet, no acoustic reverberation, you can talk without raising the voice, indeed seems to bother if you speak in a normal voice, suitable furniture, wall adorned of original famous characters photographs with a common point all pics were taken in Mantova (from football players to celebrities) in the past years.
Reception: Carlo welcomes us in person, exchange of greetings and pleasantries after years away (I am pleased to find people with whom you shared a part of career path). Brings us the menu, uncomplicated, consisting of few courses of Mantua's tradition with a modern twist, he gives us the information we request on food and preparations, and in the end we order a few dishes that attract us more than others:
- Mantua Appetizer:
- Pike soused, dish out menu that evening,
- Fillet of char with sauce of aromatic herbs and crisp vegetables,
and a bottle of fine Bianco di Custoza wine.
Expected short and we They come the ordered dishes ... really excellent for the mix of flavors and the skill of the preparation.
At the end of the dinner we ask and order the desserts, panna cotta (a typical dish of Mantua) and Bronte pistachio ice cream with licorice powder ... a delight .... The bill is not a surprise, the prices listed on the website are the ones that are on the menu ... so no jump in the dark ....
Note, in our room we were the only Italians the other two couples were American and English tourists!

This is the best "piadina" in town. Both the piadina itself and the ingredients inside are fresh and delicious. What I like most about this place is the great variety they offer. So it is not the usual piadina with cold cuts and cheese but also with fish, vegetables, and different dressings that you don't even expect. I certainly recommend that place!

My husband & I had one of our finest meals on our northern Italy trip at this out-of-the way restaurant in Mantova when we went there for lunch. The food was wonderfully prepared & presented. I had the pumpkin-filled ravioli, a local specialty, & a mille feuille desert. The cost was reasonable and a good value. The restaurant is small, distinctive with provocative contemporary paintings on the wall. The kitchen is tiny. The service was attentive & unobtrusive. The restaurant seems to cater to a local crowd. My husband & I were the only foreign tourists. I’d return to Mantova & this restaurant in a heartbeat & I recommend it highly.

Yes I've reassured last night what I wrote about Trattoria Giacomo on my last visit. Anchovy is absolutely tasty as well as the Prosciutto with burrata for the starters. Then, I had the duck with special fruit mustard which is a must try. Good chianti of Castello di Ama was a good match!
