We enjoyed our dinner at this lovely restaurant right on the beach. The waitress took a bit to warm up but then was very helpful. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The atmosphere is lovely. We enjoyed the cheese, salad and tuna stew culminating with a delicious orange flan.

One of the few places you can enjoy Molotov, a traditional Portuguese desert that just melts in your mouth and never makes you feel stuffed. Service is quite good. Great spot for an espresso or a galau.
The meals here are also quite good, less expensive than restaurants with very reasonable portions. The octopus was excellent, quite tender, with a slightly spicy sauce.
It is sometimes difficult in the off season to find a meal when you want one, especially on Sundays. I found myself gravitating to this place more and more.
Highly recommended.

A Parisiana is located in Madalena, at 10 minutes by walk from the harbour. The restaurant was good. I ate the soup and then the catch of the day. Everything was very tasty, maybe a little bit too much for me. The price was reasonnable and the staff was very efficient.

The best place to eat regional cuisine tidbits in Pico island.
I'm an Azores fish snob. I came here to eat local fish. But the waiter was persuasive, and I ordered the tuna fish and it was absolutely the best I've had. Flavorful, tenderful, and simply prepared.
For an appetizer I chose Muelas, chopped chicken gizzards tenderized in a slow stew, something I never had before this trip to the Azores. Don't sneer at it - try them!
The bread and cheese assortment was plentiful and tasty. I had never tried local corn cakes with honey and cheese before, a guilty indulgence but oh so delicious.
And great service, appropriately attentive and friendly.
Highly recommended!

Our Restaurant "Atmosfera" is located within the Nature Residence "Alma do Pico" where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the island of Faial and the Volcano. Our a la carte menu offers dishes of the Italian gastronomic tradition as well as typical products of the Azores. Freshly homemade pasta made daily, fresh fish, meat and delicious desserts is what awaits you at Atmosfera. Our offer always includes vegetarian and gluten-free dishes. The service, professional and, at the same time, friendly, will help make your experience even more enjoyable. See you soon. Seasonality: from the 1st of May to the 30th of September Reservations are recommended.
We had a really nice evening at Atmofera. I was really intrigued to eat at a TripAdvisor 5 stars, it seemed very unanimous.
We enjoyed the food very much, lasagna, mushroom risotto and panacotta. Everything was tasty, the service was polite and warm.
The decoration was simple and neat.
I cannot say much more but we had a good time. I have been to many Italian places in different countries some better, so I cannot give 5, but Atmosfera is definitely one of the best restaurants on Pico.

This is a very popular restaurant in Madalena with the locals (I don't know why it's in the coffee/tea section). We visited twice, we liked it so much.
Not only is the atmosphere great (bistro, with a few tables on the pavement), the food is tasty & service always friendly.
I have posted the menu which is extensive, portions were big so the second time we ordered less. The waiter gave us a complimentary digestif.
Their panna cotta is exquisite, best I've ever tasted, & the second time we went I made sure I ordered it in advance, got the last one!!
Go to this place, you'll enjoy it.

We stopped in for lunch and tried the pizza. It was quite good, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The decor is clean and stylish, the location is great, and they have a lot of options. It seemed slightly more pricey, but it was not a disappointment.

Amazing architetural work, great decoration, the best view, good wine and great tapas (& the best chocolate mosse ever). A great place just to hang out, alone or with friends, have a capuccino or a beer, have something to eat or just have a drink after hours (Sandra Rodrigues)
Before we came to pico we decided we'd have to come here for a drink because the pics on TripAdvisor made it a big attraction. And I had thought it would only be a drink.
However, after tried several restaurants ranking high on TA and reviewed as vegetarian friendly I was bit of disappointed and finally we decided to come here for a trial since it was said foods were also available here.
We met a friend upon stepping into the dinning area on the 2nd floor and she sang high praise for the dinner she'd just finished here to us. We checked the menu and I began to believe that cellar bar was the only and solely restaurant in Madalena which was genuine vegetarian friendly. You can easily spot out the dishes which are marked out with a vegetarian symbol. To be frankly, choices are limited, however, it's much more than the other restaurants here. The other places even have no vegetarian options on their menu.
Our first time order came to the French fries which was extremely tasty with thyme in it (we ordered it again on our 2nd visit and that friend of ours mentioned above loved it too), the mushroom risotto was the 2nd best one I'd ever tasted in the world(the 1st best went to that one we were served on the very next day :D), and the sparkling sangria freshened me up after a sunny day outdoor activities.
Some of their non-vegetarian foods are friendly to vegetarians too, in fact. For example the fish soup was so hot and delicious and it satisfied our stomach a lot and you may just leave the fish chops alone there. And the eagle beans can also be easily picked out from the cod fish.
The chocolate mousse, however, was just so so, lack of a bit more cream, in my eyes. But the chocolate they used was of high quality.

Being a fifteen group, we figured it was convenient to warn the management at least a few hours in advance that we wanted to dine at this restaurant (which was convenient because it was the closest to our hotel). We were accepted, but it wasn't possible to create a single table, so our group has been divided into several tables.
I can mainly talk about what was tasted at my table (we were four). We ordered 4 soups of the day (carrot soups) 3 grilled squid dishes, 1 dish of octopus salad. As a drink, a good bottle of "Curral Atlantis Branco" wine, beer, water.
Everything was tasty, and cost 79 euros (as I said, for four), so more or less in line with the rates of other restaurants we experienced in Madalena.
My judgment should therefore be very positive. But my wife, sitting at another table, received a "bacalhau" dish, partially burnt. So, with my regret, I have to lower my judgment.
